What happened to AIFF

I noticed that the size of my recording files had shrunk considerably, upon further investigation it seems DJAY reverted to AAC ( which is much lower quality) - AIFF has disappeared and the only other option is WAV.
Can someone tell me if AIFF has been removed as an option or have I done something wrong ?

Lukas, I’d like to strongly request AIFF support by DJay, for the following reasons.

  1. Uncompressed files sound better than compressed. You never know when suddenly you get to plug into a big sound system, say at Burning Man. Compressed files are an artifact of the era of small memories and limited bandwidth online.
  2. AIFF, as opposed to WAV, has a well supported and recognized metadata tag.
  3. AIFF is industry standard. Pioneer gear recognizes it. My windows computer handles it just fine.
  • it is true that FLAC and ALAC could be as good, sound quality wise and metadata wise, but they are not universally usable with DJ gear.

Hey Phil,

thank you for your post.

Can you tell me which version of djay you are using?

Cheers,Lukas E.

Hey there,

we decided to switch to those two options because some users had problems with the AIFF, it is not supported by Soundcloud and Windows users could not play them too.

I hope you understand.

Cheers,Lukas E.

Thank you for your feedback, will attach your reasons to the support AIFF issue.

All the best and I will keep you posted.

Cheers,Lukas E.

It’s version 2.8.5 - is this the latest version ?

Would it be too difficult to have 3 options ?
Wave is very large and acc very small in file size.
AIFF was a perfect middle option .
I can definitely hear the degradation in sound quality on ACC
