Am I the only one that thinks that DJay Pro on iOS (iPad) will never be taken seriously as a professional DJ platform because of the very poor library implementation?
I love Djay Pro, started with it on windows after using Serato DJ Pro, even the PC version had a lot of issues with library, I then switched to iPad (more portability/power) and still love a lot of its functionality but the library aspect of it is just dismal. I mean, no comment section, no rating, no tags, no grouping, no Genre, basically nothing that is actually useful to sort and plan, yes you can apply filters with some of these options but still comments, ratings, genre are not editable in iPad, no way to select which columns are showed and no way to make said columns wider or narrower.
I know real estate on an 11” display is something precious but Algoriddim should let the user decide how to manage it. I have had a terrible experience because of these limitations in the library and I don’t want to buy a Macbook or go back to a PC, I do have a Mac but is a desktop iMac and obviously I don’t intend to use it for it is not portable.
Device model: iPad Pro M4
Version of operating system: iOS 26.2:
Version of djay: (e.g. 5.6.1)
Hardware/controllers used Alpha-Theta: (Pioneer) DDJ-GRV6
No, you’re not alone in this opinion - but I can’t understand it. However, that certainly has to do with individual working methods. What you’re describing is certainly not an optimal solution. But it doesn’t bother me (or many others).
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this @musasoyyo. Our teams are working on the library, however, please understand that iOS has its own specific limitations compared to desktop OS’s.
I’ve only been using Djay Pro for a few months, which is why I bought an iPad specifically for it. I was initially frustrated when I discovered that there are different limitations depending on the platform. I’m a Windows user and won’t be getting a Mac. Currently, Djay for iOS can only be used optimally with iTunes. iTunes offers everything you could possibly want for managing your library. Simply sync everything you want on your iPad, and then you can use your iTunes library in Djay without having to import anything. If you haven’t considered this yet, you should definitely try it. It will save you a lot of frustration.
I create a playlist in Apple Music on Mac desktop for a particular event, then I drag and drop all the tracks I need or want in to that playlist, then sync the iPad.
Perhaps not ideal for your workflow but I find it much easier to manage on the desktop, then just use that single playlist at the event.
Thank you for your input, I did consider something similar to your workflow at the beginning but it doesn’t fit with my workflow and the way I like to prepare.
I also bought the iPad mainly for DJay Pro I do have a mac but it’s a desktop iMac which.
Thank you, unfortunately this doesn’t fit my workflow, I do prepare on desktop since I use MIK 11 and DJ Studio and I now use One Library to export my playlists from rekordbox or desktop app but then again on iPad there are no usable columns (tags, energy, genre, comments, etc.) that can be edited not even just displayed, and much of the information I would like to have in hand is organized in my workflow on desktop but lost on iPad. But thank you for your input it is always good to have other perspectives.
