I’ve been thinking about how useful a dedicated TV app could be for DJs and music fans. A lot of us already connect a phone, tablet, or computer to a TV when playing music, but it would be interesting to have an app designed specifically for a large screen.
For example, it could show album artwork, the currently playing track, playlists, visualizations, or even the video side of a DJ set while the actual mixing is still handled from another device.
For those of you who use a TV as part of your setup, would a dedicated TV app be something you’d actually use? Or is casting/mirroring from an existing device good enough?
I’m curious what other djay users think would make a TV experience genuinely useful rather than just putting the existing app on a bigger screen.
we are spoilt for choice with watching someone on youtube/twitter etc
i suspect the future lies in creative visual shows with music, tech is emerging that is pushing the limits of audio & visual on the live front
i remember years ago, when i invested in a oculus rift CV…. the O.G VR headset, there was a application which showcased amazing audio & visual performances….
i was absolutely blown away by the Audio Visual show, having a literal giant figure towering over me in VR… and a matching audio track to provide the vibe of what was being communicated
in this video you can see a small number of people enjoying the show in VR…this is only a glimpse of the actual show, and keep in mind this was done 7-8 years ago
if you ever get a oppurtunity to try VR with a decent PC look for TheWaveVR
its a mind blowing experience!! both visually & on the audio front!
