“a great piece of sofware”
“it’s respected, It looks nice, plays well on all platforms”
“It gets stuff first”
Reliable, but pushing the boundaries"
“Hands down the best beatgridding anywhere”
“Djay pro, your report card is GOOD!”
I’ve taken free trials of digital DJ lab and access all areas and seen all the other mentioned softwares being used frequently but never djay pro.
I didn’t look at everything so I could have missed it being used somewhere but I did check out a lot of the big ones.
Seems strange as he generally has a lot of good thing to say about algoriddim but is reductant to use it in his coursework.
He has to focus on what his census tells him that people are using, and the facts are that the vast majority of DJs, particularly working DJs are using Serato and Rekordbox, with VDJ likely next in the list.
If you’re trying to sell something (tutorials), those tutorials have to reach the widest audience in order to make money. Perhaps in a couple of years that might change.
Yes, its used by pretty much every single mobile/wedding/events DJ due to its flexibility with stuff like video, its AI mixing features and the ability to connect to servers full of music without having to sign up to expensive subscriptions (e.g. your NAS drive at home).
Im sure as Djay gains more inroads into the market they will start to feature too. As i said, he will be using gathered data to determine where to focus his attention, namely their own DJ census.
And what you also have to factor in is hardware, they usually do courses relating to a piece of specific hardware (most commonly stuff made by Alpha or InMUsic), Djay has very few dedicated hardware devices.
I so agree. I paid for the digital tip DJ lab, thought I wouks see some courses for DJPro software let alone he does not mentioned much about it. Personally, I do not like rekordbox. It’s confusing and as a beginner dj djpro is easy on the eyes and easy to understand.
DJay Pro is not only visually beautiful but the engine itself is solid! This is one of the very few companies in the world that listens to the people and gives instant feedback. Don’t ever change Algoriddim when you get bigger next year! Cheers and congratulations on the very deserving praise!
Hi Nadine, from someone who has used most of the software over the years, id say VDJ is the most cluttered, followed by Traktor, then Rekordbox, Djay is next but if you put it in 4 deck mode it moves up the list for me as that is extremely cluttered. Serato is by far the cleanest UI, but also the one with the least amount of config options.
Djay in 2 deck mode is very similar to Serato, although on a touch screen its a bit more complex to negotiate when you want to apply FX or use cue pads, but then nobody else is offering touch screen support so its a mute point.
