Why does the music stop playing in the program when I take a screenshot?

Is this a program error?

Android 15, Xiaomi 13ultra.

Hi @_360, welcome to the Community! I tested this on my Android phone and taking a screenshot does not stop the music.

  1. What method are you using to screenshot?
  2. What version of djay are you using?

Please try using the physical power+volume down buttons on your device instead.

I’ve tested this, and it’s about touching the screen with three fingers at the same time. I’ve disabled the screenshot, but the music still stops. This happens on two pages of the program - the screen with the vinyl and the screen displaying two tracks as a wave chart.

I’m using the latest version of the program, and I’ve tested it on two different Android phones, and it works the same way.

However, even without the video, it sounds like what you are describing is expected behaviour in djay. A 2 or 3 finger press on the touchscreen enables “Scratch Mode” where you can slide your fingers up and down to scratch the virtual vinyl record. You cannot disable this feature in djay so I recommend you use a different method for capturing screenshots of your djay screen. I hope that helps!

I understand that the solution is to use the volume and power keys to take a screenshot, but I can’t understand why the playback of two audio tracks stops and the play button stops responding if this is intended by the software manufacturer.

Hi again @_360, thanks for uploading the video. That does look like unexpected behaviour. I was not able to reproduce this on my Android device. For me, touching the screen with 3 fingers does pause the song and enable scratch mode, but releasing results in the song continuing to play as normal.

Can you please try uninstalling djay, rebooting your device, then downloading and reinstalling the latest version of djay from the official Google Play Store? Thanks!

I did this, and the result was the same on two different Xiaomi phones.

Hi again @_360, our engineering team hasn’t been able to reproduce this yet. Can you please confirm that you have changed the screenshot method in your Xiaomi settings to something other than “3 Fingers down”?

I believe It’s in Settings → Additional Settings → Button Shortcuts → Take a Screenshot, then select any option different than “Slide 3 fingers down”.

Hi. I found another screenshot setting on Xiaomi - holding three fingers on the screen to take a partial screenshot. When this feature is disabled, as well as when the down gesture is disabled, playback does not stop. The program enters scratch mode, as it should.
