I was previously advised by @Slak_Jaw to engage with the 4 deck set up and then send feedback in a suggestions thread with photos ,see attached.
I have been piloting the 4 deck iPad interface on a Mixon 8 at length and comparing the experience to a 4deck CDJ set up (I work with techno and dark environments, and my hope is to consider bringing djay app quality, neural mix, and the efficiency of the djay-controller combo to replace my standard pioneer deck experience).
Here are my suggestions and please let me know what you think:
- Circled in red is the EQ tab, but this tab is already included in the tool/fx/etc section circled in green. There’s no point in having it in two places; it would be much better to have that one tool menu to sort through.
- That said, circled in yellow is the EQ vs neural mix tab…this is only present in the eq tab in red, but not in the eq tool in green! So to make suggestion 1 more full proof, it makes sense to add that EQ vs neural mix drop down menu to the EQ tool circled in green (which right now is just EQ alone, no neural EQ option)
- But finally and perhaps most importantly, having to switch between tabs to see EQ/filter information is quite annoying. In dark lit gigs and with many controllers that work with djay not having illuminated EQ knobs, being able to visually see where your EQ knobs are at all times is a huge help. Thus the last image suggests possible locations to always maintain EQ/filter knob data visually. There seems to be plenty of room for small knobs just to be able to see what’s happening; I understand that would be too small to manipulate them, but that’s fine because the goal isn’t for them to be useable. Just need that visual info at all times in 4 deck mode with a controller. I may be wrong but have to imagine most if not all people using 4 deck mode on an iPad are doing so with a controller, and thus they’re going to be using their controller EQ knobs anyway.
Eager to hear your thoughts thanks!
