4Decks Hardware Mode screen on iPad

Can we please have a 4decks “Hardware Mode” screen, that is optimized for 4 channel controllers?

At a glance, and in the upper section, I would need:

  1. time remaining & time elapsed
  2. BPM & Tempo values
  3. Sync & Key Lock status
  4. Loop & Beat Jump sizes

Most of the time, I would be looking at the FX tabs in the “Tools” pannel on screen, as I’m using the FX assignment per NM channel, and seeing the just the FX1 panel, as in 2Deck HW mode is not as essential for me. the 4 above are, though.

Being able to enable the “Mini Looper” panel in place of “Tools” would be very beneficial too. I was thinking that we may do fine without the “Mixer Panel” of the current 4 channels mode, but thinking of it, there are people mixing on 2channel controllers with 4 decks, so perhaps the Mixer Panel will get some good use for some DJs and should remain present in 4 decks HW mode.

Thanks for the suggestion @Kaloyan. This has been suggested elsewhere, but I couldn’t find the topic. The good news is that you won’t need to wait long on this one

Cool, thanks!
looking forward to use the HW optimized 4 decks layout!

I will also wait to check and see what MIDI actions will be made available for controlling the layout before submitting new enhancements requests.

You’re welcome @Kaloyan. Sounds good.

I’ll keep giving my feedback for the 4 deck HW screen mode here, so I’m not polluting the release announcement thread more.

There’s significant bug with the looping - when a loop is active, the track “overview” waveform switches to zoomed mode and follows the loop. It becomes unusable, and we are loosing the Birds Eye view of the track.

The other thing, as written in the release announcement post, is that there’s no “loop size” display, when the tools panels are visible. The loop size is visible above the waveforms, but only when they are large. When they shrink, to accommodate room for the tools panels, the loop size bars disappear, and there’s no where in the HW4 mode that it can be seen, unless we switch off the tools. Even the value in the loop tab of the tools panel does not display the value set by the controllers. They just seem unrelated, which is likely a separate bug on it’s own.

I’d love to have the loop size value visible at all times, and on iPad, there’s proper room for it between the large “SYNC” Button and the Keylock Note. Alternatively, both Loop & Skip size can be displayed in the lower panel as selectable options.

Honestly, it would have been so much easier if loop and skip size are synced/locked at all times, as suggested on another thread. I find it very confusing and demanding to keep an eye and be mindful of two separate values even on MacOS. Not to mention that I’m mapping two separate sets of controls (rotaries or buttons) for something, that can be succesfully handled with a single setting per deck, as in Traktor. This will improve significantly the UX, and reduce the screen clutter.

Thanks for sharing @Kaloyan. I’ve passed these onto the engineering and dev teams.

This was added in a recent djay release.

Hi @Kaloyan, I believe these bugs have been fixed in the 5.2.7 iOS version that was released today.

Indeed they are!

I’ve tested across iPhone & iPad and the loop display is there, and the playhead behaves as it should on both platforms.

Great, great thanks to the team for taking care of these before the holidays. We can now truly appreciate the 4D HW mode at full!

Mary Christmass, Algoriddim Team! Thank you very much for this present!
