8 Decks on MacOS via the system shortcuts app

Some may or may not realise you can run 2 instances of djay Pro.app
to effectively give you 8 decks…

the caveat is you need to have separate controllers & simultaneously disable the primary device mapping on the 2nd instance when it is up and running

dont know if people see any value in having 8tracks linked and sync’d…
but its certainly doable on a m1 mac mini

i like to experiment with apps to see whats possible

edit: another caveat is the 2nd learned midi controller “must” have all different cc/note values to those on the 1st controller… as the midi is not internally filtered… something to be aware of

heres whats needed to be entered for the MacOs shortcut app
can be used with other applications, by replacing the name in the Quotation marks

Interesting discovery!

Seems like this would be handy for doing a b2b where each DJ has their own instance of Djay and their own controllers.

Now I’m wondering about sync, maybe the Ableton link feature would work to sync the two instances? Though now that I’m looking for it, it seems to have disappeared.

Either way, pretty interesting find, would definitely be interested in seeing a video of this in action!

How about a video???
