Hello everyone,
We have an idea and the question is whether it is technically possible with DJay.
We are a dance school and are considering the following setting:
Access from several Mac Mini via DJay and ITunes (Music App) to a central point where the music files are stored. This means that several users can access the same music on the network.
Is this feasible, and if so, how?
Or is it not possible at all?
Hi @FrankFi, welcome to the Community! Good question. I don’t have any experience in this type of setup. Maybe Apple Support can provide better guidance here. In theory you might be able use Apple Music/iTunes Match. However you will need to have separate AM users for each Mac otherwise if you use the same AM user you will only be able to play on one Mac at time. AM supports sharing playlists so in theory the main AM account can setup and share the playlists to the other AM accounts.
The other option might be to turn one Mac mini into a file server using macOS Sharing → File Sharing. Then the audio files are stored on that machine, and the other Mac’s mount the network drive and add the files to iTunes on each mac.
