Add 256Kbps AAC Recording quality option

I usually make shorter recordings in WAV,
ButI just realize that m4a (AAC) files have recorded in 128kBit/s quality.
Excuse Me!? Is no there options to change that in desired quality? Whattaaa
Is it a prank? I’m speechless…but 128kbs is good for speech, but for music…

AAC is not MP3. For example, an AAC with 128 kbit/s delivers significantly better quality than an MP3 with the same bit rate. Certainly not optimal, but also not bad and quite usable. Nevertheless, it would of course be nice if you could select the optimum bit rate.

You wrong @Chris_R DJay recording result is m4a, try it, then talk!

Hi @DJ-Z, thanks for the suggestion, but please be specific about what recording option you would like to see other than AAC or WAV.

Hey @Slak_Jaw Slak, My problem is the Bit rate, not the format! I can not preset to 192, 256, 320Kbps in DJay, but should be!!
for example:

another thing is, DJay have automatically sample rate too:

I agree it would be easier to have the selection of 256 and 320 but 320 can still be achieved by recording it in WAV (10.1MB/min) and importing the recording file into iTunes then converting it to mp3 which I have set at 320Kbps and it’s done.

I always do this process with the DJ friendly re edits I make of various tracks I have, It’s not that big a deal if you want to put your recordings back into your Dj pro library as the process is just about the same.

If I am uploading mixtracks to say Soundcloud or the like, I keep it in AAC as it’s the same quality more or less the quality what they use for you to hear it…

The result of the recording is (if you have not selected WAV) AAC, packaged in M4A. This is only the file extension, a container file, not an independent format. An M4A file is an audio file that is saved in MPEG-4 format and encoded with either the AAC codec (Advanced Audio Coding) or the ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec).

Thanks for the additional info @DJ-Z. So you would like to see AAC options for 128Kbps, 192Kbps, 256Kbps and 320Kbps? Or would it be sufficient to just add say 256Kbps AAC which is essentially equivalent to 320Kbps MP3? If possible, I would like to keep this request simple and add just one additional option. Please confirm. Thanks!

yes, @Slak_Jaw just add 256Kbps that would be enough!

Thanks for confirming @DJ-Z. I’ve passed this onto the dev team.
