Add Fader Start MIDI command or Setting

2. Fader Start Functionality:

  • 2.1. Fader Up = Play:
    • Implement a “fader start” feature.
    • Simply raising the channel fader for a deck should automatically start playback of the loaded track on that deck.
  • 2.2. Beat-Synced Start:
    • Crucially, the track should start playback in time and on the beat, ensuring seamless transitions and mixing.

Thanks for the suggestion @Gianni_Notarnicola. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!

Hi again @Gianni_Notarnicola, in the meantime we have a feature that was added recently for the Crossfader which might meet your needs. In the djay Settings>General try turning ON Auto-Play When Moving Crossfader and setting the Sync Mode to Sync. This is basically Fader Start, but with the Crossfader instead of Channel Faders.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t use crossfader, I use only channel fader to mix.
This setting work with channel fader?
Thanks a lot

You’re welcome. This setting only works with the Crossfader.

Ok, great idea but not for me. I hate a crossfader…
It’s my bug :joy:

Fair enough. Well I have passed your original suggestion onto the devs for consideration.

In pioneer sx2 we have crossfader, but that can be assigned to 2 channels
or kind of working with 2 separate channels simultaneosuly.

But we have 4 channels in SX2 and in lot other controllers.
In djpro we can fully control 4 channels.

So I would not need to swap in SX2 from deck1 to deck3 to control start/stop, que buttons.

Very interesting idea.

Hi again @Gianni_Notarnicola, I spoke with engineering and you can sort of map Fader Start yourself by duplicating the mapping for the fader, and then mapping the second action to the Play/Pause action.

You’ll have to change the control type to Button first, and set the second option to Hold. The only caveat is that this won’t jump back to CUE when moving the fader to the bottom. I hope that helps!

Hy,
I have already done it, the track start when a cursor is completely up.
Is possible to start a track when I move a cursor from o?
Thanks

By “cursor” do you mean “fader”?

Yes,sorry for my English…
And another little request, is possible to deactivate on the fly?
Many many thanks

It’s working for me. Maybe check the Invert setting.

It will not be possible to deactivate on the fly.

I want to use this on deck 3 and 4. I load on deck 3 a bass loop and in deck 4 a drum loop to use durin a long song pause for “refresh” and Maintain high energy…

As you can see is not possible to enable invert. When I select button and assign to deck 4, put up the volume of deck 4 the deck start. When I put down a volume the deck stop. Is not normal i think.

@Gianni_Notarnicola as noted above, you need to change Default to Hold.

Once you’ve done this, you shouldn’t need to turn Invert on unless it’s not working as expected.

Is not possible to modify.

It appears editable in your previous screenshot:

I recommend you save you MIDI mapping, close djay and reboot your laptop and try again.
If it is still not editable after this, please share a screenshot of the full screen including CC 19 Deck 4 Play/Pause so I can see everything. Thanks!

I have restarted the system but no more editable.
I don’t know why.

As requested above: please share a screenshot of the full screen including CC 19 Deck 4 Play/Pause so I can see everything.

Also, you could try creating a new MIDI mapping from the the original (built-in) mapping then repeating the Duplicate process for the channel fader and the changing the Control Type to Button and the second option from Default to Hold.
