AIF ID3 Tags in Djay Pro for Windows

Hi there,

I’ve upgraded to Djay Pro (I was a DJay 1 and 2 customer many years ago which got me into digital DJing!)

I’m looking to use Djay Pro on both Windows and iOS (as soon as I upgrade my iPhone!) with my newly purchased Reloop Mixtour Pro - which seems pretty awesome so far.

However, 99% of my tracks are in AIF format, I use both Traktor and Rekordbox currently. I buy my tracks in AIF format, and use both MIK and Platinum Notes prior to importing into Traktor (and then RB for USB gigs)

I understand from another, rather old forum post that currently Djay Pro for Windows doesn’t actually read the ID3 Tags for AIF files, it only reads the file properties. Looks like this is still the case in 5.2.10195.0

This is something that should be addressed as a priority item if you don’t mind me suggesting it please - it’s a “Pro” product, with “Pro” files, so you need to put some focus into being able to manage the tracks properly in a library by reading the tags that are available. It’s a bit daft that this isn’t yet supported.

I don’t use iTunes for my library management, my master collection of files comes from my Traktor installation, which ultimately is a bunch of folders with AIF files in them. It’s kind-of structured, but I wouldn’t relay on it - that’s what the tags are for. All my tracks are organised in Traktor and Rekordbox using the ID3 Tags, so before I can really go much further forward with Djay Pro for Windows I’m going to need to be able to browse and search my collection using the tags.

Thanks very much for your consideration.

Kind regards,

James

Hi @James_Gillies,

We really appreciate the detail and care you put into this post! This is exactly the type of collaboration we like to see between ourselves and djay users.

We’ve shared this with our engineering team for further review and will update this topic if/when appropriate.

Thank you!
