Akai AMX audio issue with newer djay versions

It would be nice if we can just get audio out from the amx without using using dvs and just use it as a controller first. Then we can talk bout dvs.

Yeah you can totally forgo the DVS. That’s just my personal use case. Like I said I’ll be home in a few hours and I’ll make a video. I’ll include my current OS version and the model number of the AMX so people can make an informed purchase decision. Didn’t realize I took a gamble when I bought it haha.

I don’t think it’s a lottery. Mine was working before and I’ll post a video later on showing that it did.

The Amx audio out works with every other iOS app I have right now except when I plug into djay. This is probably a bug.

Here’s the video I made. Hope it helps, if it doesn’t I haven’t a clue. I’m using an iPhone 15 pro on 18.5 if that means anything. There’s no model written on the akai though I included the serial for it. Obviously reference my photos from above for my settings, but I think all that matters is mixer mode to internal main output 1-2, pre 3-4, and pre cueing auto select off. https://youtu.be/DK8hGiTKZtI?si=RM6nR6J5-cs2L3Ix

Which mapping are you using?

It’s slightly modified. There’s a couple knobs that are a bit too sensitive. If you check the comments on that you’ll see what I did.

Here’s how it was working for me for the past 4 years until now.

No rituals no workarounds just plug and play like it’s supposed to.

I advocated for the the amx kinda like what you’re doing now. If you look deeper in this thread then you’ll see my setup pics and different ways I used the amx

So it must absolutely have something to do with DVS. That seems to be the difference between our setup.

The issue is that the sound is not coming out the main and headphones. I have a few more things to explore before I make a bug report.

Here’s my dvs setup when the amx was working plug and play without rituals and workarounds.

I’m glad you got yours working. Enjoy.

I really believe algoriddim has disabled the amx in djay pro I have the original djay app I purchased way back when and my amx works perfectly I have the m1 iPad and the amx sound card works with every program except Dj pro… come on guys there’s no need to disable it

Hi @2timing, I can assure you that Algoriddim has not intentionally disabled this hardware. Is your original djay app running on your new iPad with the same iOS version or are you running the old app on a different device and iOS?

Same iPad runs the old app perfectly. It also runs audio through the Amx from Traktor 2 Apple Music cross Dj and Tau ( the old Dj player pro) You say it’s not intentional but I have to disagree if it works with all of these other apps and not djay pro

Thanks for the additional info @2timing. I double checked with our engineering team and they most definitely haven’t disabled anything for this hardware. They’ve added more advanced features like DVS overtime so this could have unintentionally changed how this specific hardware works with djay.

Our hardware team is going to try to get an AMX unit for testing to see if they can replicate this issue and offer any suggestions. I’ll report back here when I have more news.

Thank you for this
I have taken a couple years off from djing and am now going back The amx working with my iPad would be great for the smaller shows

You’re welcome @2timing. In the meantime, you might want to check out the Reloop Mixtour Pro. I personally have this hardware and use it specifically for smaller gigs. It’s very reliable and well integrated with djay.

I know the reloop would work well, I currently have 8 different controllers and really don’t need/want to get another
