AlphaTheta XDJ-AN Official Support

We’re happy to report that the new AlphaTheta XDJ-AN is officially supported by djay 5.6.7 on macOS, Windows and iOS. This includes screen support on macOS and Windows (no screen support on iOS). This device also supports OneLibrary.

Too bad… well, I didn’t really believe it would happen, but I would have liked to be pleasantly surprised. Especially for users of djay on the iPhone or iPad, screen support would be interesting and important - much more so than when working on a laptop. Of course, not everyone will see it that way, but if I have to lug around a laptop in addition to a standalone controller like this, it pretty much defeats the whole purpose of a standalone device. Yes, using an iPhone is also an extra device, but it’s much more compact, and you usually have it with you anyway. On top of that, many people use djay precisely because it frees them from having to rely on a laptop.

Well, it is what it is - maybe something will happen on this front someday after all.

Thanks for the feedback @Chris_R. As far as I know, screen support on AT hardware requires HID, which isn’t currently supported on iOS.

My same thoughts. Screen support is awesome, no iOS support kind of defeats the purpose.

I’m really curious on why iOS support was advertised to work on the rane system one, eventually, but not on alpha theta devices.

I suspect RANE uses a different protocol for their screens than AT (maybe not HID).

Perhaps as a workaround, albeit not a very elegant one: is it possible to continue using, import or do something similar with cue points, loops etc. that you’ve set in Djay within songs and playlists on Tidal, when using this controller with Tidal as the source?

This device supports OneLibrary, so that’s probably the easiest route.

Not impressed at all. I believe the Denon SC Live 2 and Live 4 will get a nice revival..

Thanks for the input @olafmol
