NOTICE / REMINDER:
Just a friendly reminder everyone.
If you encounter any bugs, issues or have a detailed question about this release, please do NOT post them here because they could get lost in this general discussion.
Please post them in an existing related topic or create a new topic if necessary so we can have a focused discussion there and don’t miss anything important.
I noticed you’re already supporting brand-new controllers that have only just hit the market, yet there’s still no screen support for the XDJ-XZ. With an estimated 300,000–400,000 units out there, I genuinely don’t understand why AlphaTheta’s flagship standalone controller continues to be overlooked.
Can you shed any light on why the XDJ-XZ still isn’t supported? It just doesn’t make much sense from a user’s perspective.
Now that VirtualDJ supports fluid beatgrids, and has always supported the XDJ-XZ’s screens, I’m seriously questioning whether I should continue supporting djay instead. My subscription renewed just two days ago, and I’m already wondering if I should ask for a refund because my hardware still isn’t fully supported.
Please make XDJ-XZ owners happy one day—we’ve been waiting a long time!
Maybe you should not expect too much with djaypro support for the XDJ-XZ.
I assume the XZ support will be more or less the same as the support for the XDJ-RX3 (which I own). The RX3 can only be operated in external mixer mode which means that the majority of Djaypro software features cannot be used, above all the stem separation that I use a lot. I own a FLX10 as well which works well with Djaypro (apart from not supported jog wheel screens in IOS and the still not supported pad mode) but when I have to use the RX3 I went back to Rekordbox as stem separation is supported with that software. Further, I have to use a Laptop with the RX3 instead of an iPad that I use with the FLX10, which is another disadvantage in my opinion.
Hi @paul_gordon, at the moment, our focus is on supporting the current-generation of DJ hardware, including newly released controllers. Our hardware engineering team is working at full capacity on this effort. They are very aware of user demand for screen support for this device and others, but it’s not on the top of their list at the moment. If our priorities change in the future, we’ll certainly let you know. Thanks for your understanding.
Well I ain’t blaming Algo as I hope I’m right, it’s Alpha Thetas issue although VDJ didn’t and doesn’t need it, I’m not going to buy an AZ which has gone backwards in some respects as my XZ is perfectly fine, I do have a workaround for stems in the guise of a Midi Fighter 64 added as midi controller which handles the stems and a whole lot more, filters, triggers and pad mode to a certain degree, a lot programming but worth it. The screens as always been a pain as I have to either have my Mac in harms way at gigs or drag around an external monitor all for guise of politics and sell the new one and alienating a great deal of loyal customers but hey ho, to quote earth wind and fire, that’s the way of the world. Djay is still an awesome product but let down by supplier greed and politics.
I’ve had my XZ for four years I don’t just use it as a controller if I’m gigging I like to have options, so always have back up usb with tracks on and MacBook for stems creativity. The whole point is I don’t want or need to buy new kit, the XZ is still flagship build and features, no need to drop 3k for a bigger screen and Djay screen support.
Then maybe making the Team bigger should be considered. Djay is an amazing software but it will never get better adoption and will fall behind if the hardware integration doesn’t get better.
When you go to a club or an event where you have to use their equipment, you don’t want to have to worry if your software is compatible with it.
I understand wanting to support new hardware but a lot of clubs and events don’t have the latest hardware.
Since Serato and VDJ are compatible with most hardware, people will choose them over Djay Pro even if they’re not as good.
It doesn’t matter that your software has amazing features if DJs can’t use it anywhere
Thanks for the input @DjFusion. I will pass this on. Please note that our team is growing and we are hiring regularly: Algoriddim » Jobs. Growth doesn’t happen over night though… Also, the other DJ softwares are currently not cross-platform compatible on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android like djay.
