Any rumour about new Reloop hardware ?

Hello,

A few weeks ago, I asked if there were any rumours about Reloop building something new, maybe between the Buddy and the Micron 8.

Here : Are there any rumours about Reloop making a successor to Reloop Buddy (2 Decks)

There weren’t much answers.
But I would like to make my question more general.
Are there rumours about any new Reloop product at all, even top of the line, a new Micron X or something ?

If for some reason this question is not welcome here (like “if it is a secret”), can someone post a link to another site (like Reddit) where this is being discussed (I didn’t find anything on my own).

If no new product from Reloop were about to be released in the next 6 months, I think I would go with the DDJ-REV5. Would it be a good idea ?

Thanks a lot.

I would wait until the Christmas season or NAMM if you’re not in a rush.

I would be suprised to see if they announce a larger DJ controller overall.
As I understand is that Mixon 8 didn’t really hit the mark (heard lot of problem with that unit from various people). And the problems the unit had to come out from the assembler line.

The only thing “big” controller we haven’t had a new version of is; Reloop Touch - Reloop
I would not hold my breath though as Reloop seems to be switching to more smaller DJ controllers that are more accessable for customers to get without a big fat wallet.

There is no “insider knowledge” we all know that you don’t.
We know as much as you do.
Best way to keep up to date is to subscribe to newsletters from any reputable source and stay on here where people will usually put forward what they have heard.

No insider knowledge, but would love to see a Reloop Ready Pro.

I have an original beatpad which I really like and would love to see a beatpad 3

Thank you all for your valuable input.
No, I am not in a hurry, so will wait for holiday season and NAMM indeed (good idea, thanks).
What I do like about the REV5 though is that it is a pure controller.
No hardware effects or whatever brain inside. Just a nice layout.
So I wouldn’t have the feeling to pay for things I won’t be using with Djay.
But it is already more than a year old.
I also like the Rane Four, especially all the mini-LED screen making it a very versatile controller.
Unlike FLX-10 where so much is hardprinted (like around the FX knob). But not class compliant, and no USB C. Not being class compliant (not iPad compatible) is a very strange let down. As I am understanding Rane has been acquired by InMusic (Denon DJ / Akaï,…) - so less enslaved to Rekordbox/Serato. Closing it down with being not class compliant is weird.

I was thinking maybe some day a Djay 6.0 will come out and it would be a nice marketing idea to have some top tier controller designed with this in mind.

Build and sound quality are crucial. The perfect layout or set up is impossible to find but if you buy the most robust, good sounding and proffesional device you can find you will find yourself adapting to it more rather than wishing the device was better if that makes sense.

Been very interested in the buddy. Don’t like that it dosen’t have three bands eq though.
Can you re-map the gain knob to EQ in Djay Pro?

@djfredhaze yes, you can remap the gain knob. You might also want to look at the Reloop Ready. This is what I personally went with becauset has more MIDI mappable controls than the Buddy. I remapped the gains on this to Highs, so I have full 3 band EQ control.

Interesting, I have the Buddy - I am happy with it as entry-level controller (although I had to add a DAC for sound quality and therefore I cannot pre cue) - and want to upgrade (hence my post).
I didn’t think about this mapping hack for 3 band EQ, which will be useful in the meantime.
Great idea. Thank you @djfredhaze and @Slak_Jaw.

PS : I just realised I have no gain knobs on the buddy :frowning: So, not for me…

In my personal opinion the auto-gain feature in Djay Pro is really good so I very VERY rarely use the gain knobs.

I currently use 2 Buddy’s connected to an iPad (4 decks/channels), but I have the same issue with DAC/Buddy.

Apparently, iPad doesn’t allow more than 1 sound card connection, so DJAY iPad can’t allow both pre-cue and Radial USB-Pro, but my MacBook DJAY can. So either I use my MacBook w/ DAC, but no touchscreen, iPad without DAC and decent sound, or iPad with DAC w/o Precue.

Good sound on Buddy would let me use my iPad and be super mobile and let me use touch, but rn I’m dealing with the not as good sound straight from Buddy. Also on my wishlist, the stem effect pads from the Mixon 8.

Yes, @Slak_Jaw confirmed this is indeed pure IOS limitation (only one DAC).
Not Reloop, nor Algoriddim.

And Yes indeed, using an external DAC with the Buddy is game changer : No humming, no white noise, nothing : totally black sonic background. And then obviously much better sound coming out (but then no pre-cueing if using an iPad).

If you’re DAC has 4 channels OUT (2x stereo channels), you can pre-cue on the iPad. For example, the SSL2+ audio interface.

Ah thank you - good to know.
I am currently using my old Hi-Fi DAC from the living room main audio set-up. It has RCA out and XLR out, but it is the same channel. It is not really a DJ audio interface like the one you are talking about.

But it is very good to know. Thank you for this !

I’m really hoping a company (listen up Reloop) will make a controller with mechanical jog wheels. I love my 1000srt but I don’t want to be married to alpha theta for everything but I just can’t use touch capacitive jogs!

I am just understanding something right now.
Obviously I knew Laidback Luke partnered with Algoriddim and Reloop for the Mixtour Pro.
But I hadn’t totally understood this might go a bit deeper than I thought.

This video (published a year ago, but just found out today) was quite insightful

So, I hope this partnership is still going on (question for all : is it ?) and will lead to new full size gear.

My personal opinion:
I don’t think it will go beyond the mixtour pro. He wanted a updated version of Mixtour that would have all features he needed. He got it, it took years but it it was finally released.

I wouldn’t be suprised if he continue to be a part of reloop for internal QA of upcoming products or will give his 2 cents on stuff thst Reloop are working on. He is a touring festival dj so he has a unique perspective and can give good pointers.

I think we will see more of Laidback Luke in more algoriddim products and updates then Reloop.

Prove me wrong though
