Apple Music Playlists not visible

Not sure what I am doing wrong - but I am always having trouble reading my apple musik playlists in djay. I created one or more new ones - the do show app in all devices. but not in djay - tried refreshing, logging off and on again, quitting/ restarting.

Half of my playlists are not showing up anymore.

Hi @pgtaboada,

Thanks for sharing, and sorry to hear this is happening to you.

Could you share with us the following:

  1. The device(s) you’re using djay on.
  2. The OS version number is running on the device(s).
  3. The djay version number being used.

Also, are you seeing any error messages in djay, or do you just see that you create a playlist in the Music app and then it doesn’t show up in djay?

Thanks!

Tried it on MBP and Mac Studio.
On Mac Studio I now see the Playlists after logging out/in a few (!) times. Simply reloading (CMD R) usually does not help. It feels like a caching issue.

It is macOS Tahoe (26 thing). I will install 26.1 beta to see if it solves the problems.

djay Pro 5.4.3

I do create/ reorder/ rename playlists in Apple Music, changes do not show up in djay.

Hi @pgtaboada,

Thank you for that additional information.

We have seen instances where playlists created in Apple’s Music app (formerly iTunes) may be invisible or greyed out, but not with Apple Music (Subscription) tracks.

Could you confirm which service/app you are referring to?

Additionally, by any chance, have you installed Tahoe 26.0.1 or the latest beta to see if the issue is resolved? We wonder if there may have been a change in permissions in the latest update(s) that have hidden these playlists.

I have a few playlists that are stored/ managed by apple music/ service (I know it because I have another account “working together”).

Most of the playlists are kind of local to apple music/ app/ music library, since they are synchronized throught the “sync music library” feature.

It took me a while to understand the difference. I cannot pinpoint the issue to any kind of playlist. I use djay different devices. I can tell you all playlists are synced within the apple music apps (two macOS, one ipadOS and one iOS devices). djay app on macOS has problems not showing some playlists, with different playlists missing on each macOS device.

Interestingly, shazam is a mess too. It should sync into a playlist, but it does not always add recently recognized songs.

Not sure if it helps. Unfortunately (for error finding), all lists are currently visible on all djay, it took some days (!) until all playlists did show up. To be fair, it did not stopwatch and did not check too regularly. If it is a caching issue, it would be a quite aggressive caching.
