Apple vs Tidal For Dj’s

Left deck is Apple Music. Right deck is Tidal
Same song, but notice the cue points aren’t the same. So when I change the left deck (apple) it changes the right deck (tidal). So if most of your songs are on tidal be careful cause they may be thrown off. I’m sure a lot of ppl are trying the apple for djs out
I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not cause metadata is involved

Yeah… It might be same song, but it might not be exactly same file. If you export wav to mp3, or other format the wave might look the same. It’s up to the transformatio algorithm and the file format how it’s then stored to the file. And the result might be this.

By default djpro, I think that djpro tries to save beatgrid, waveview, cuepoints only once to save your valubale hard drive space. This can be done by verifying the songs based on the ISRC numbers.

Now what happens is that you might have “wav” file in tidal, “mp3” or some other format in apple music. So when files are exported form wav to different file formats, there might be this issues that sometimes there is just a small “silence” in the begin of the file and the audio of the outputs won’t excatly starts on the same place “0:00”.

All file formats assumes that the all audio starts at “0:00”. During the wav to mp3 transformation it might happen that the audio stored to the audio actually start at 0:01. Creating audio with small “silence” in the begin of the track. Usually you won’t notice this as you won’t see wave views at phones while listening tracks on tidal.

So this might happen. The cue point is most probably stored to the music library. Like cue1 at 1min 1s.
Now when the track are loaded, they are identified to be the same, cuepoint will be set on both players excactly on the same place 1min 1s.

Now the wave data is loaded from Tidal and apple…
And whoopsie, the wave aren’t the same and it looks like apple music audio track won’t start at the position 0:00. Most probably the apple audio track has small “silence” part in the beginning of the track compared to the tidal one.

Put the cue point to 0:00 to the begin of the track and see the difference of the audio wave view.

Unfortunately, this is a well-known problem, which Algoriddim can only solve to a very limited extent, if at all. The problem even occurs if you have set the cue points in the “High” quality level on Tidal, for example, but then later switch to “HiFi” - and it no longer fits.

My favourite is this one:

While the song is the “same”: artist & song title

Even for Tidal music distributors loads up different files for the same artist & song.

Yes, one of the songs is 1s longer

Can you hear the difference thorough tidal app?

Forget about apple music tidal have more songs and the quality is better + stems. Thisi is my experience.
