Artwork disappearing in “AirCrate” in Djay Metaquest

Summary of the issue:
the artwork on the 8 albums floating in midair in the “Aircrate” randomly disapper as seen the the below attached jideo.

How to reproduce the issue:
hey all, dont know how to reproduce the issue as it happens randomly. What I can tell you is

  • I download mp3 track
  • take it into Mp3 tagging software to add album art
  • album art is usually 1000×1000 or 1500×1500 pixels in Jpeg
  • upload to Metaquest Headset the music folder under a subfolder.

As can be seen in the short video clip (around the 45 seconds mark) …randomly the cover art disappears and I get a blank black vinyl cover and record.

Could this be a problem because of uploading the mp3 to the local Metaquest drive and there’s around 10 songs there.

Given this app is perhaps written in Unity? Just an angle worth exploring.

Important when the record cover turns black and you put the now black record on the platter…after about a few seconds the whole DJ deck stalls …and music don’t play from the deck.

Hi @dirrogate, thanks for the details about your setup and this issue. I’ve passed this onto engineering to see if they can replicate this and offer any suggestion. Thanks!

Hi again @dirrogate, engineering is asking if this issue is occurring with specific songs? If so, can you please upload some of these songs to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to them here? Thanks!

At first I thought it was specific songs, but then realized it’s happening randomly with different songs.
I tried:

  • encoding at 192 , 256, 320 in mp3 format
  • changing album covers between png / jpg
  • using 2000 x 200px resolution
  • using 1500 x 1500 (1000 x 1000 I forget) rez.

It’s random.
My guess is it might be because there’s around 10 songs in the internal storage of the Quest3?
unity is known to be erratic in media access. but these are just hypothesis.

I’ll try tomorrow to upload the songs via wetransfer or similar file service.

I’ve sent a link via DM to you @Slak_Jaw ,to download all 8 songs.
As mentioned, at first they all show up in the MetaQuest local folder and play in DJay… then after a few plays, at random the album cover and record turns black.
and if it is then put on the platter… it plays for a while, then the whole app slows down and stops playing from that deck if any new record is put on it.
