Audio breaking up and losing sync - Android

  • Device model: Oppo Pad Air
  • Version of operating system: Android 13
  • Version of djay: 5.4.2
  • Hardware/controllers used: Pioneer DDJ Wego 4

After upgrading to djay 5.4.2 I have a major issue using my controller. When I mix two tracks together with sync the audio starts glitching and sounding awful on the second track and it starts going in and out of sync erratically all over the place. The audio on the first track still sounds fine. I can play a song on either deck fine on its own but as soon as you try and sync them together it breaks up.

I’ve tried it with lots of different songs and it does it with all of them. I had to end up using the tablet on its own without the controller at the gig as it still worked ok on its own, and do my main set on my cd mixers.

I’ve had to uninstall 5.4.2 and put 5.3.3 back on instead as this was really reliable and never went wrong at all. When you made quite a lot of changes in 5.4.0 it was never quite as good on my tablet and was less responsive when changing between waveform view, mixer view etc. but it did still sync ok.

Hi @djsmoothe, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Thanks for the details about the issue and your setup - this is very helpful. Since this sounds repeatable, can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw, thanks for your quick reply! I can’t do a video of the issue unfortunately as I don’t have version 5.4.2 installed anymore. I needed to use the controller last night so I put version 5.3.3 on the tablet as I new it would work ok.

You’re welcome @djsmoothe. Okay, I will pass your description onto our engineering team to see if they can replicate this or not on their setup.

Hi @djsmoothe, our team was able to replicate this issue and is working on a fix which should be released in an upcoming update (likely 5.4.3). In the meantime, if you turn Keylock off, this should help. Thanks!

You’re welcome @djsmoothe

Hello @djsmoothe, 5.4.3 was released today and should address this issue. Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw, thanks I’ll download it and give it a try!

You’re welcome @djsmoothe

This version of 5.4.3 did not help, but even 5.4.4 did not help, as the last version for Android that played sensationally was 5.3.3 .

Thats a shame it hasn’t fixed the issues for you, I’m using 5.4.4 and its working fine with my controller again now.

You can download the 5.3.3 version from Uptodown and use a APK installer app to put the old version back on if you need to.

Well, that’s a fact, but why do you pay subscriptions;) as every update is worse and we work like testers already twice a month:) my opinion is that they should do something about the problem or release beta versions free of charge, I do not know in which system. so far it is so that if someone plays regularly installs updates and blow, it stops functioning, that’s a problem

on V 5.5 with the last patch and the problem is still swimming SYNC when mixing, it helps to turn off KEY LOCK (blue note) please help, I have already reported the problem several times Slak_Jaw I checked various hubs and cables USB SYSTEM ANDROID 15 LENOVO M11 controller RELOOP BEATPAD 2 controller

I have another idea maybe you need to transfer the music material to the internal memory of the tablet maybe the SD card slot or the card itself is too slow

I’m not sure what you mean by this? Can you please share a video?

I think this is a good idea. Please test and report back. Thanks!

I’ve tried lots of different Android tablets with djay over the years and the ones with Snapdragon processors seem to work the best with controllers etc. All the ones I tried with Mediatek or Exynos processors seemed to have various issues.
