Autoloop Hot Cue 1 option

would you guys consider making it possible to have the in loop start at the very beginning where the first cue is set like rekordbox does? It comes extremely handy when you want to quickly loop back to the beginning seamlessly, without having to set the in loop manually, thanks

Hi @thebigmakconspiracy, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the suggestion. Good idea. Can you please share some screenshots on how this looks/functions on Rekordbox?

In the meantime, if you are using a MIDI controller with djay, we have MIDI Mappable commands for something called Cue Loops. These basically allow your Hot Cues to function as automatic Loops instead. So in your case, if you only use this for the first Hot Cue, you could remap your controller so that Cue 1 is Cue Loop 1 instead.

hi thanks for the reply am loving the software so far, i will look into using cue loops as it is something I haven’t explored properly yet. In regards to my question I will post a link to a video which demonstrates how rekordbox uses this function. It comes in handy when a track is about to end and you want to seamlessly loop back to the beginning, really handy as a lot of tracks have mixable intros, especially when you have not set any cues or loops for the track yet. Just a suggestion as it is a widely used feature especially on cdjs, thanks

You’re welcome @thebigmakconspiracy. Thanks for the video - that is completely different than I was imagining based on your description. I can see how this is a handy feature for sure. I will pass this onto the dev team for consideration.

Hi again @thebigmakconspiracy, engineering is asking for additional clarity on how this feature works.

  1. In your video it is clear how this works with a newly loaded track and you press only the Loop Out button.
  2. The song loops from the start of the track to where you pressed Loop Out without the need to press the Loop In button first.
  3. Is the start of the loop determined by the start of the track or by the position of the first saved Hot Cue? Or perhaps the loop start is determined by the beginning of the last set loop if a loop has been activated somewhere else in the song?
  4. Is the end of the loop determined by the point that you press the Loop Out button or by the currently set auto-loop length?
  5. For example, how does this feature work when you press the Loop Out button near the end of the song? Perhaps you could share another video showing how this works in different scenarios?

Thanks!

Hello my apologies for the late reply as I’ve only just got back from holiday and did not have my decks on me. Essentially wherever the cue is set will determine the “loop in”. Wherever we press “loop out” will seamlessly create the loop from the last cue that was set, without the need to push “loop in” every time. This feature is really handy I have attached a link for demonstration, thanks heaps!

Thanks for the video and clarification @thebigmakconspiracy.

EDIT: So what happens when you press the Loop Out button near the end of the track? I’m guessing it jumps to the start of the song or the last pressed cue, but what determines the size of the resulting loop? Is it determined by the currently set Auto Loop Length?
