Please add a “Refresh / Reload Playlists” action for djay on iPad/iOS for all streaming services, especially Beatport.
On macOS, Cmd + R reliably reloads the current Beatport playlist after I update it on the Beatport website. On iPad/iOS there is no equivalent:
No visible refresh button in the Beatport/streaming browser.
No MIDI‑mappable action or external keyboard shortcut.
I have to leave the playlist, kill the app and restart it. This is unacceptable during live sets.
My use case:
I manage my Beatport playlists on the Beatport site (before and during sets), and I need djay to quickly reflect those edits on iPad, just like on Mac with Cmd + R.
Request:
Add a “Refresh” command for the current streaming playlist on iPad/iOS.
Expose it as:
A small refresh icon in the playlist header, and/or
A MIDI‑mappable action and external keyboard shortcut.
Make sure it forces a fresh API call so recent playlist changes (add/remove/reorder) appear immediately and clear any stuck “loading…” state.
This would greatly improve workflows for DJs using Beatport as their main playlist manager and djay on iPad as their main performance rig.
Hi @Gunta, welcome to the Community! You can already refresh a streaming service playlist on iOS by “pulling down” via the touchscreen when you are at the top of the playlist.
Oh, thanks! I completely missed that. I just tested the pull-down refresh and yes, it works.
In that case, I’d like to adjust my feature request a bit:
Since manual refresh is already available via touch, it would be very helpful to also have a programmatic or automatic way to trigger the same refresh action.
Specifically:
A setting to automatically poll/refresh the current streaming playlist every X seconds/minutes.
A MIDI-mappable “Refresh current playlist” action.
Ideally, some kind of API / automation-accessible way to trigger the refresh.
My specific use case is that I’m using the Beatport API to let the audience send song requests during a set. Those requested tracks are automatically added to a Beatport playlist.
The problem is that on iPad I currently have to manually notice this and pull-to-refresh the playlist. During a live set, that’s easy to miss and not very practical.
So the core request is: please expose the existing refresh behavior as an action that can be automated, mapped, or triggered without needing to touch the playlist manually.
That would make this workflow much more reliable for DJs using Beatport playlists dynamically during live performances.
You’re welcome @Gunta. Thanks for the additional details. I have adjusted your suggestion title accordingly. I’ll share this with our dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!
