Automix (possibly video mode) jumps volume and 'pops' in transition

  • mac mini m1 ventura
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2):
  • behringer xair 18, no controller

automix, when doing transititions, has begun making weird pre noises… like a pop or as if crossfade/cue, or a bad ‘scratch’ was quickly applied back and forth.

then the volume jumps dramatically until the transition finishes.

Hi @EvenStevenMusic, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. I was unable to replicate this issue based on your description. Can you please try updating to the latest version of djay 5.3.1 and see if that eliminates the issue? If not, can you please try to capture a short video of the issue and share it here? Thanks!

it is 5.3.1, didn’t update the version in the comment.

“new users cannot upload attachments”. i threw it into youtube.

Thanks for the video and djay version number @EvenStevenMusic. This is very helpful.

  1. The “pop” sound is an issue that our team is already working on and should be addressed in the upcoming 5.3.2 update.
  2. The volume going down and then up again is just the “neural mix drum swap” transition you seem to have selected. It is designed to pull out vocals/instruments of the outgoing track so only drums are left in the middle of the transition, then bring in the vocals/instruments of the new song. You can select a different Transition Type if you prefer in the Automix Settings or Crossfader FX settings.

I hope that helps!
