Automix stops playing in Android when screen is off

When using Automix on my Samsung Galaxy 4 with the screen turned off, the music stops after the current song and doesn’t start the next until I turn the screen back on. Can someone tell me if it’s the program or the phone, and how to fix it?

Not sure if this is related, but when looking for songs in Spotify, if a song ends it does not mix to next song. As soon as I return to turntable view the crossfade occurs. Tried this on two different Android devices with same result.

Also, when the queue is done automix starts paying whatever is on the device. Anyway to stop this behavior? When the queue is complete the automix should just stop.
