I just got a second iPad to use as a backup in case my main iPad fails when I’m DJing a party. I want to have the same song library on this secondary iPad as is on my main iPad. That’s easy enough. Importantly, I want all of my hot cues for songs to be imported onto this secondary iPad. How do I that?
Thanks!
Hi @neilsachs, you can copy your Hot Cues, Saved Loops and My Collection playlist between devices quite easily by copying the djay Media Library database from one device to another. On iOS you can find the database using the Files app in On My iPad>djay>User Data. I also recommend that you make regular backups of this database to an external drive or cloud storage service. I hope that helps!
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I have a gig tomorrow, so timeliness is key. I did the process you recommended (copy and pasted the file from one iPad to the other), but nothing changed (no hot cues on the secondary iPad). But then I HIT SYNC for the secondary iPad. Perhaps this is obvious to folks, but perhaps should be in the directions. Thanks again!
You’re welcome @neilsachs. Make sure you Copy and Replace from the source iPad to the backup iPad. You either need to overwrite the database on the backup iPad or delete it first then copy over the new one. Otherwise, the Files app may rename it in the copy process.
The other way to do it is to clear the new/second back up iPad and Restore it from Backup to the original iPad in iTunes.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work in the way that Slak described but I think it has something to do with my iCloud storage being full
