Beat FX not in sync when using XDJ-XZ and XDJ-AZ

Can someone explain to me why it is that when I use the XDJ-XZ or the XDJ-AZ as a controller they do not properly sync the BPM of the beatFX?
I tried switching the internal/external mixer mode, FXquantize on/off, auto/tap….but none made a difference.
Sometimes the BeatFX are all of a sudden in sync with the active track but most times it just sticks to the BPM it last synced with…
I must be doing something wrong cause I can’t find any threads with people having the same problem?

I’m using the latest version Djay Pro and running it on a MacBook Pro M1 16Gb RAM, 500Gb SSD.
I’ve been using multiple XDJ’s (XZ and AZ) on different locations and always made sure the controllers run on the latest firmware.

Hi @delaSarge, thanks for the detailed info.

  1. Please make sure you are using the (built-in) MIDI mapping for the AZ and XZ and not a custom edit.
  2. With the XDJ-AZ or XDJ-XZ connected to your Mac, please navigate to the djay Settings>Devices, then expand the drop-down menu at the bottom left near the “?” and select Reset to Defaults. This will ensure the proper configuration.
  3. After this, please retest, and confirm if you are still experiencing sync issues with Beat FX. Thanks!

Hi again @delaSarge, engineering has identified the issue and is working on a fix which should be included in an upcoming update (likely 5.6.4). Thanks!

Thank you!!

You’re welcome @delaSarge

Hi @delaSarge, 5.6.4 was released today and should address this issue with the XDJ-AZ. Please update and confirm. Thanks!

So I used a XDJ-XZ yesterday with the updated version 5.6.4. but there was no noticeable difference. On those few moments when the FX-bpm is actually syncing to the active track, the BPM in the display is slowly changing/syncing towards the actual BPM, which I don’t understand. It seems as if the XDJ is the one that is measuring the BPM but I would assume that the BPM is being send through midi to the XDJ….

Hi @delaSarge, as stated above and in the 5.6.4 release notes, this only applies to the AZ.
