Beatport Song Search Is Bad

I did a quick search here, and I’m surprised that I haven’t seen this topic being brought up yet. It’s something that I experienced with beat source as well, but searching for songs was really painful. Just searching for a popular song like “Vogue” by Madonna, I would type in “Vogue” and get nothing. Then I would follow it up with adding Madonna, and I still wouldn’t get anything in the top four. It was all junk in the top four. I would have to have clicked into the artist Madonna before I could actually find it within there. I’m not sure if this is some kind of API pull or maybe this is a beat port issue, but I just thought I’d bring this up and see if anyone has dealt with this.

Agreed. I’ve had a few free trials but never went in for a subscription due to poor search and discovery. Shame because its a good service and they do have deep and varied selection but i hate looking for stuff on there whether its in djay, browser or mobile app.

Hi,

I don’t have beatport, so I cant test it, but what is the result if you switch artist and title, like ‘madonna vogue‘ in your example?

I posted a screenshot of what i see for that specific example. The first song is “Marea” by The Blessed Madonna.

It just kind of sucks when you are djing and someone comes up with a request that I can’t find easily or at all.

Hi @Nick_Castillo, do you experience the same results when searching within the Beatport standalone app or the Beatport web browser?

Good question, and yes it seems to be the same results. So this is a beatport issue!

What’s interesting is that search issue started after the merge. The search function worked much better with Beat Source. Occasionally you’d have that issue but rarely. Now it’s just like you said. Even with very popular low hanging fruit searches. It really struggles and often right when you need it. Hope they work it out.

I’ve been having these issues with Beatport for many years, I often have to do multiple searches to find a track I KNOW they have for sale. Definitely a beatport issue more than a djay one hopefully one day they can fix it.
