I actually think this is a smart move by them. I’ve never considered a Beatport / Beatsource subscription before, but now that one subscription gets access to the full library, I’d consider it. I know I’d have to pay the full amount to get offline lockers, which would be handy when I’m back doing gigs. But which subscription gets access to neural mix stems?
Unfortunately, Beatport does not offer the catalog of normal streaming providers. Sure, the focus here is on club and electronic music, and the offline locker is also a nice feature, but apart from English-language songs, the selection is very limited. As a DJ with a broad repertoire, you have no choice but to use additional sources. And overall, that’s not a cheap pleasure.
Yes but they are merging so you get both. All of Beatsource and Beatport catalogue. All the beatsource edits, DJ Exclusives, DJ City, and DMS (Direct Music Service) plus all Beatports underground goodness. Pretty decent as all under one roof.
Hopefully they’ll do some work on their genre lists and suggestions algorithm. I was quite impressed how much older and obscure music they had when I transferred some playlists but when I tried to dig deeper into the catalogue all they kept suggesting was tech house, deep tech house and nu disco.
I had a brief look on there this morning and I was surprised that they had quite a few tracks on there that were in my more unusual playlist that includes tracks from the Clash on it.
I always assumed that it would all have been tech house!
