Buying a DDJ Rev5 for iOS and have questions

YOUR QUESTION:

  1. Does the “Deck Move” function work?

  2. Current Rev5 users: How is the controller performing?

Thank you :folded_hands:

Sold mine. If you are not a serious scratch dj it works good. Those HID jogs are dialed in for Serato. Not sure about the deck move option. I used mine with a m1 iPad Pro

Thank you, that’s a bummer about the platters. What are you using now?

I had a Rev 5 and I thought it was excellent. Really well mapped out the box for djay pro. I scratch a bit but not excessively and I thought it was ok. I charged though to fix 10.

I have the Rev5 and Rev1. I agree with what was mentioned about the jog wheels on the Rev5 working better with Serato. They are cool for mixing and cueing up music but not the most ideal for scratching. The Rev1 jog wheels are much better minus the fact that they don’t have any display or indicator lights. Other than that it works great with djay Pro.

RANE one mk2

Ok, another question for you since you have the Rane one mk2.

Can you preview a track in Djaypro and have it come out the headphone jack? Cannot on the performer and it’s a deal breaker for me.

Thanks!!

Hi @Ralfi711, library preview/pre-cueing is not supported on the RANE One MKII.

Yeah, I was bummed too when I found this out. I was doing all my reading on Djay pro and saw the precue feature and got super excited lol… then got home to hook up my performer and test everything out and its no bueno for external mixer devices

Right! I Bought the performer and retuned it the next day because of this, super bummed.

I’m missing the pre cueing point here I guess. Can’t we just load a song into the deck that’s not playing and cue it from there? :man_shrugging:t3: Then you can set cue points etc. am I showing my age here ha

Yes, you can do that. But it’s much faster to preview tracks from the library vs loading it to a deck first.

There’s also the chance that song could be rendered as “played” if the your crossfader isn’t closed all the way.

And that’s been a problem a couple times for me because that song may not fit at the current moment, but when I go back to play it hours later, I assume it’s been played and I’ll skip over it.

It’s not an issue if you’re the type of DJ that pre plans sets. But for on the fly open format DJs, it’s a quality of life thing.

I’ve never had that feature before in the 18 yrs I’ve been using DJ software, so I was looking forward to using it when I was reading up on Djay Pro features before I switched from Serato.

I’m just spoiled lol. That method is too slow for me, I need to scroll through my playlist, listen/scan through the track and then load it.
Playing open format, I need to be fast :dashing_away: playing on vinyl or CDJ’s I generally have sets more thought out.

Oh man I’ve probably overlooked a song or two thinking it was already played! Ha never thought of that

You got lucky lol! I was way past my return window when I realized it didn’t work.

Glad you were able to return it. What hardware did you end up going with?

Yeah, being quick on your feet is key to playing open format. Constantly adjusting to your crowd that will digest all types of genres and vibes.

The older I’m getting, the more brain farts I tend to have. Especially spinning records over a 4 hour period. So any little bit of help from technology is always welcomed lol.

I had the DDJ 1000 and was going to replace it with the performer. I just went back to the DDJ..

I’m thinking about going to the FLX 10 but I might hold out for something else. I really want to be able to use an iPad eventually and since the jog screens don’t work with iOS, a motorized platter would be dope.
