Hello,
First, I obviously checked whether I should post in some existing DDJ-REV 5 topic.
But some have been closed, and some are too specific for my very general question.
I would like to treat myself for Black Friday (why not), and want to upgrade my DJ Gear (Reloop Buddy).
I am quite well aware of all existing possibilities.
But at the end of the day, once we remove all the upper-level gear having jog screens Algoriddim is currently not supporting, the list reduces drastically.
So, it may seem surprising, but at the end, only the DDJ-REV5 (now 1 year old) seems remaining. Even if price were not an issue (The GRV6 seems to gimmicky, RANE FOUR, PERFORMER are not iPad compliant, most nice gear have screens & jog screens).
Therefore, a few questions for you guys :
- Is the DDJ-REV 5 a good idea in combination with Algoriddim, today Nov 2024 ?
- Have all issues been ironed out ?
- Regarding the jogs, do we at least have the red bars circling ?
- Are the two REV5 “stand out” features mapped ? (“Piano Play”, “New Auto BPM transition”).
- Any very latest rumour about a new toy coming out to consider ?
Did I miss something ?
Thank you very much to all of you.
Btw, this illustrates again the issue I posted in another topic. We really have a marketing issue here : Top tier software but lack of compatibility with top tier gear. But this is another subject.
You can also map easily to how you like. Example Parameter buttons I have mapped to acapella and instrumental.

I’ve bought my REV5 in jan ’24 and been using the REV5 with DJay for 6 months now.
It works very well with DJay, and although midi mapping is easy with DJay, the ‘Auto Transition’ is not working as intended and you can’t really map it to the designated buttons,
But DJay has a similar feature build in the app with which you can get the same results.
The ‘Piano Play’ I have never used and is not standard mapped in it as well. And as far as I know it only works with RB and Serato.
But I nonetheless I prefer using the REV5 with DJay Pro anytime, anywhere over Rekordbox or Serato.

Thank you @Dysfunk_DJ and @delaSarge for your kind and informative replies.
About “Auto Transition”, yes I am aware Djay has a similar function (I am a happy Djay user too).
But my question was indeed about the mapping.
It is mapped to auto transition just make sure Crossfader fx are turned on. I don’t use it that much but I have tried it and it seemed ok. Not sure it has same implementation as serato though with ability to add a stem, loop etc. maybe you can I just haven’t tried it.
Hi Guys,
Short question : will the REV5 charge my iPad ?
Thank you.
You will need to buy a pass through adaptor. I bought this one
UGREEN Revodok USB C Hub, 5-in-1… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BR3M8XHK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Thank you for your swift reply, @Dysfunk_DJ.
I have one of these.
Exactly the same, from Ugreen.
But I am a bit puzzled. Why would I need that ?
Why would I not connect the iPad directly to the REV5 with a lightning (old iPad) to USB C cable ?
This works very well with my Reloop Buddy (lightning to USB A in this case).
Actually, my question was more precisely to know whether REV5 will send power to the iPad for charging.
I guess It should, as the REV5 has a 65W power brick. And I guess it only uses a fraction of that, say 15W, max. So, I guess this excess power it two power laptops or iPads.
But I think I read somewhere the FLX4 does NOT charge iPads/laptops.
So, I am not sure about REV5, and that’s the heart of my question, and although I have a bunch of adaptors, I would like to avoid them (for lean setup).
Can you confirm REV5 can power iMac, or otherwise confirm it doesn’t ?
Thank you very much for your support.
