Can’t activate free trial on macOS

  • Device model - MacBook Pro 2012 A1278 Intel i5 2.5GHz 16GB RAM DDR3 2TB SSD SATA III Crucial
  • Version of operating system - macOS 10.15.7
  • Version of djay - 5.3.3 and 5.4.2
  • Hardware/controllers used - Pioneer DJ DDJ-SZ

Summary of the issue:
Error.
I still can’t activate the Pro features.

Clicking “Start Free Trial” opens the options dialog box and a spinning gear searching for these features.

But unfortunately, nothing happens.

This dialog box disappears and returns a short message “SKProducts Request took too long to complete.”

I’ve already contacted Algoriddim support and was advised to contact Apple, suggesting it was an App Store issue. I disagree.

I continue to use Serato DJ Pro and sometimes Rekordbox DJ without any problems.

This is very sad.
And unfortunately, as an administrator and moderator of three Serato groups (with over 4,500 members each) and also of a Rekordbox group (with 3,900 members), all in Portuguese on Facebook, my only recommendation, based on my testing and experience, is that you do not install or attempt to use Algoriddim’s dJay Pro at this time.

How to reproduce the issue:

I installed and uninstalled several times manually and using the AppCleaner software, which erases any remnants of the uninstalled application.

I restarted my MacBook Pro several times and cleared the PRAM.

Nothing worked, and I tried to get Algoriddim’s dJay PRO to release the PRO functions. The tab keeps appearing, informing me that it’s searching for this information or authorization, but nothing happens.

Just this tab, a dialog box that closes to open a smaller one informing me that “SKProducts Request took too long to complete.”

Hi @DJ_Branca_Wilson_Ant, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

  1. Did you also create an Algoriddim djay Account and are you logged into it?
  2. Are you using a VPN or proxy to connect to the internet? If so, please try disabling it.
  3. Please also try logging out of your Apple ID, reboot your device, disable your VPN, then log back into your Apple ID and try the Start Free Trial again.

Thanks!

Thank you Slak_Jaw.

  1. Have you also created an Algoriddim djay account and are you logged in?
    Yes, I am.

  2. Are you using a VPN or proxy to connect to the internet? If so, try disabling it.
No, I don’t use a VPN, just the default macOS firewall.

  3. Also try signing out of your Apple ID, restarting your device, disabling the VPN, signing back in with your Apple ID, and trying to start your free trial again.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled djay PRO about 10 times, reset my MacBook Pro 4 times, even cleared the PRAM, signed out of my Apple ID twice and also signed out of my iCloud account on this Mac, and nothing worked.

I recently tried activating the PRO features without being logged in to my Algoriddim account, and I got the same error => “SKProducts Request took too long to complete”!

You’re welcome @DJ_Branca_Wilson_Ant. Sorry to hear that didn’t help. This definitely sounds like an issue with the App Store. Sounds like you’ve tried everything I can think of. I understand how frustrating this must be.

The only other thing that I can think of is to sign up on a different device like an iPhone, iPad, Android device or Windows device. If you use your djay Account on any of the other devices you can share your free trial or subscription across them. So, if you are successful on the other device you might be able to skip the part of the sign up sequence that is getting tripped up on your Mac.

Slak_Jaw, thank you so much.

It worked. I simply installed djay PRO on my Android phone, and as soon as it opened, it asked me to purchase, restore, or activate the free 7-day trial.

Then I went to my MacBook Pro, opened djay PRO, logged out of my Algoriddim account, and logged back in. I requested to restore purchases, and the 7-day trial was there.

Then I connected my DDJ-SZ MIDI controller, and djay PRO recognized it immediately, and everything worked!
