So this issue was first raised in February, and as far as I am aware it still has not been resolved.
The behaviour is the same for MacOS as well.

Any news from the devs about whether or not fixing this is on the roadmap?

Thanks

I’d like the library to “know where i was” when i change views, and go back.

Just bumping this topic back up to the top, in search of more votes!
I’m also going to link to it over in the active thread on paying more for better features.

Personally, this is my biggest bugbear right now.

Thanks for the follow up. Our engineering team is already working on this.

Recently made the move to Djay Pro from Serato DJ Pro. . Like it so far. However, I’ve found a big annoying things How could they not realize this mistake? ( algoriddim company employees )

When I search a song whether in my collection or in the playlist, after I exit the search, the selected song goes back to the top, or beginning of the playlist. It doesn’t go back to the song I was just on. That’s super annoying as it makes keeping my flow difficult.
too many users are switching back to serato because of this issue
I wish you to correct your mistake urgently.

It would be perfect if After a search The software remembers where you was before .
Example : If You was on letter M scrolling your songs in a playlist , change to another playlist …when you go back you are at the beggining (Not in letter M ) .

Hello everyone! I’m happy to report that this has been addressed in djay 5.3.

For the full 5.3 release notes, please refer to the topic below. Thanks!

Not fixed for me unfortunately.

Maybe what I’m seeing isn’t the same as this?

What I’m seeing is:

  1. In the “Music” playlist of my collection (i.e. everything, with the two musical notes icon), I scroll down a long way.
  2. Then I switch temporarily to another playlist.
  3. When I switch back to the main “Music” playlist again, it jumps right back to the top again.

Is this the same thing? Or something else?

Correction -
From my testing this only works if the playlist is sorted by its default order. If you manually sort the playlist by clicking one of the column headers (e.g. sort by Artist), then it jumps back to the top when you return. Is this an easy fix?

Thanks for reporting this, @Belford_Roxo.

Unfortunately, you’re right—also on my side, it only works when the list isn’t sorted by any column header. But #irl, I like to sort by BPM, so that’s not really a solution.

Thanks for sharing and narrowing down the issue @Belford_Roxo and @DJ_Big_Blender. I’ve shared this with the team and they are working on a fix. Thanks again!

I even narrow this down some more.

Thanks for the insight, Belford_Roxo! I’ve been testing this a bit more and noticed something interesting. It actually seems to work even when the playlist is sorted differently, as long as you navigate away and come back without re-sorting. But if you re-sort the playlist in the meantime (e.g., by Artist or BPM), then switch to another list or panel and return, that’s when it jumps back to the top again.

Also, I’ve noticed some inconsistency depending on the source you’re browsing from: when switching playlists within My Collection, it incorrectly jumps back to the top. But in Local Music (formerly iTunes), it actually remembers the scroll position across different playlists and doesn’t jump to the top when switching—so it seems to retain position memory per playlist.

Feels like a small bug or inconsistency—hopefully something the devs can tighten up!

Thanks for the additional observations and details @DJ_Big_Blender. This is very helpful.

@DJ_Big_Blender and @Belford_Roxo, just confirming that the main sorting issue should be fixed in an upcoming release (likely 5.3.1).

Big Blender, we’re unable to reproduce your last comment about My Collection playlists not retaining the scroll position; maybe they were sorted? Could you please share a short video of this? Thanks!

Yes, it seems I was a bit confused earlier, but I re-tested it and you’re right.

When a playlist is not sorted, it does remember the last selected track position for each playlist individually—so the position memory works as expected.

However, when a playlist is sorted (e.g., by Artist or BPM), it only remembers the last position as long as you stay in the same playlist. As soon as you switch to another playlist and come back, it resets to the top—so in practice, that makes the position memory pretty much useless in sorted views.

This behavior is the same in both My Collection and Local Music.
