Channel meters reset on restart?

  • Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen): mac mini M1
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): macOS 12.7.4
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.1.6

How are channel meters working in djay?
What amplitude does it show?
Any way to know if you are clipping the signal on the way to the soundcard?

I’v noticed that they show different volumes after a restart.

I use -12 db headroom, and it goes half wayiSH
After a restart its still -12 db headroom (also sounds like -12 db)
but channel meters are looking like 0 db headroom.
You can change while you play, and see the meters change back.

Hi @spiro, I spoke with the engineering team about this.

Channel meters show peak amplitude of the given track, with the red light being 0 dBFS. Headroom setting should be included, but as you correctly noticed the headroom setting was not applied to the meters after restarting the app. We will address this in an upcoming djay update (likely 5.2). Thanks!
