Compatibility: RANE Seventy vs. Seventy-Two MKII with djay Pro

Hi everyone,
I’m considering upgrading my setup and would like to know which mixer, between the RANE Seventy and the RANE Seventy-Two MKII, offers better compatibility with djay Pro on macOS 14.2.1. My focus is on smooth integration, mapping capabilities, and overall performance.
If you’ve used either of these mixers with djay Pro, I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences. Any insights or recommendations would be helpful!
Thanks in advance! Obafunkie

  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.2.5):

I have this exact same question.

Anybody?

I used djay pro for some months with the 72.
Depending on your user needs, it works.
No screen, no bpm from djay to the Rane fx

Mapping was fairly easy. More controllable than with serato.

I just used the most basic of features to not need more than two tabs/ midi layers on the 72. But a lot of things are not mappable (FX toggle, fx buttons, the file menu scroll wheel button acts as one command if i remember right . . . )
small annoyances, but working

But i wouldnt buy the rane mixers new now, firmware is no longer developed and replacement parts seems tricky.

Thanks for sharing @spiro

@Slak_Jaw Why isn’t there more support regarding the 72? I just purchased a 72 and would like to use it with DJay Pro but it seems like I lose quite a bit of it’s functionality versus when using it with Serato…

Hi @NoDJ, can you please be more specific on what important functionality is missing that you’d like to see implement? Thanks!

@Slak_Jaw Well, the fx buttons don’t work at all and some of the pad modes are missing; and why is the shift button needed to access the different pad modes? It’s almost as if something was just patched together just so the basic functions would work with the 72. I mean it’s doable, but using the 72 with Serato is a smoother experience; everything works as advertised with Serato.

Thanks for the additional details @NoDJ. Perhaps you could share a short comparison video using both softwares that I could pass onto our dev team?
