Copying A Single DJay Playlist From One Mac To Another Mac

I have multiple macs that I use for DJ services. Typically, I start a mix (playlist) on one device and finish on another. I would like to transfer a single “work in process” playlist to my other mac devices as necessary. I have searched the forums and it is not clear to me how to do this and/or if it is possible. I don’t use Apple Music and keep my files locally and in sync across each mac (same directory structure).

Bonus! I have an ipad and an iphone that would ideally like to share a “work in process” playlist from those devices as well. It seems like a reasonable expectation. Thanks for your help.

@Slak_Jaw any thoughts here? Thanks

Hi @DJAceMoney,

Out of curiosity, are you making these “WIP” playlists in the Files or My Collection source in djay?

Regardless, this is not an available feature of djay as of right now; however, our engineering team is aware that a feature of this magnitude would be extremely beneficial.

You could possibly take the .djayMediaLibrary file from one Mac and send it to another, which you can restore as a backup from that file, although your mileage may vary.

Have a nice day!

Thanks @NathanielAlgo. I am creating the WIP playlist in my collection not files. Order of songs in the playlist matters so assumed it would have to be done in my collection. If that’s not the case I am happy to try another method.

Yes, this is a feature I use with other DJ software and would be very very helpful. Thanks for the suggestion regarding copying the library and importing. I have a big library so it may be challenging but appreciate the suggestion.

Hopefully, this will be a part of a future update…and maybe more importantly being able to sync libraries across Mac OS and IOS devices. Which would solve this issue as well.

The only way I know is through Apple Music.

Mac ↔ Mac

  1. Copy & Paste My Collection track list → into an Apple Music playlist.
  2. Export Apple Music playlist as .m3u file.
  3. On the 2nd Mac; import .m3u file into Apple Music.
  4. Drag playlist into My Collection.

Thanks @Michael_Wisniewski. I don’t use Apple Muisc but will consider as a work around!
