Corrupt M4a file (missing moov atom file).

I have recorded 2 sets, each around 4 hours and whilst the M4a will playback on my iPad within the DJay Pro App, when I transferred to my Samsung phone, both times it has been unable to play the file due to missing moo atom (metadata). Anyone else have this issue? How do ai fix it?

Hi @Andrew_Hart, you could try using an application or online audio converter tool to convert the file to a different type like MP3 or AAC. Alternatively, you could install an music player app on your Samsung Phone that supports M4A file formats.

I have been unable to convert it to MP3 because it says “error moov file missing”. The Samsung audio player does play m4a files, just not these corrupted ones. I originally uploaded the file from my iPad to Google drive, then downloaded from there to my Samsung phone so maybe it got corrupted along the way if no one else is having this issue. You would think all files would move with the single file m4a and not somehow disappear!?

Hi @Andrew_Hart, I’ve read that some users were able to repair corrupted m4a files using the VLC player. Also, in the future, make sure you stop your mix recording before closing djay, as this could lead to the corruption you’ve experienced.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
