I use an iPad, a Mac, and my Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab) for DJing.
I’ve noticed that when I organize my music into folders, it keeps the correct cover tags—just as they were when I bought the tracks—but when I try to create a playlist from that same folder, all the tracks end up with the same cover tag, as if it were taking the first cover tag and applying it to all of them. It’s inconvenient to work this way. I’ve cleared the cache for the native Android Files app and for djay, but the problem persists. I’ve tried it in rekordbox DJ, and that issue doesn’t occur there, so it’s not an Android system problem.
It’s worth noting that I prefer working with playlists because in Files mode, you can’t search for songs directly without going to Local Music. Any solutions?

- How exactly are you creating your playlists?
- What file formats are your songs in?
- Are the songs all stored on your device internal drive?
1. My playlists are in m3u8 format.
I have some files organized by album, for example: 80s Hits. When I go to the (Artist/Album/Genres) tab, even though they have different cover art tags, it loads everything into a single list.
2. My files are in MP3 format and have been analyzed using Mixedandkey and PlatinumNotes10.
3. I have music stored both in the internal memory and on the microSD card.
As I mentioned before, with other DJ apps on Android, this problem with cover tags in playlists doesn’t occur.
Thanks for the additional details @Lacoda. I am unable to reproduce this on my Android setup so I’ve passed it onto our engineering team for further review. I’ll report back when I have more news. Thanks!
