Not that I use it much but when I am using the mix now auto transition with the Smartfader FX the beats are falling out of sync during the transition then re-alligning once the transition has completed.
If I use the crossfader manually It syncs perfectly
Both the crossfader fx and tempo blend are activated.
I have tweeked and played with quite a few settings without success.
The problem occurs on both my ipad 9th gen and my iphone XR.
Hi @daniel_curley, when creating new topics, please do not forget to answer the questions in our template with specific details about your setup not just “iPad” or “Latest Version”. This helps all of our community moderators to provide the most effective support to users with the utmost efficiency. Thanks!
Device Model (ex. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
Version of operating system (ex. iOS 17.3.1):
Version of djay (ex. 5.1.3):
Hardware/controllers used (ex. Reloop Ready):
Please also navigate to djay Settings>Advanced and take a screenshot of the Neural Mix Quality settings.
Which cross fader effects are you using? I don’t think with 60% you will be able to use the neural mix ones.
I also have the same problem with my ipad
9th gen 2021 os 17.4.1
version 5.1.6
no controller
neural mix quality 100 percent
and also my mac
mac OS Monterey version 12.7.4 2015
version 5.1.6
neural mix quality 80 percent
I have videos of the ipad and mac if required
I don’t use neural mix as i stream a lot through apple music
Thanks for the video and additional details @daniel_curley.
- What is the source of these songs (Apple Music Streaming or Local Files)?
- If Local Files, are these store on device or on an external drive and what format are they in?
- My initial thought was a performance issue on your older iPhone, but if you are seeing the same thing on the iPad 9th Gen this seems less likely.
- I’m going to send this to the engineering team to see if they can reproduce the issue on their setup.
Mp3s from files work fine no problem
Both Local Files and Apple music are where it’s going wrong.
Here’s an example of each from my ipad.
Thanks for the additional info @daniel_curley. The engineering team was able to replicate this and is looking into a fix.
The same happens in AutoMix
The should be fixed in an upcoming release (likely 5.2). Thanks!

This is the exact same issue described in this linked thread (and according to the Algoriddim tech who responded, it should have been solved in the 5.2 update), but the thread is a year old and here I am with the same problem, hence the crosspost: Crossfader FX “Mix Now” transition not holding sync.
So, when using Crossfader FX smart transition with tempo blend enabled and transitioning between two songs of different tempos, the songs drift out of time very badly, then snap back into sync only once the transition has finished (by which time they usually snap together a beat apart as that’s how far they’ve drifted over only 4 bars).
I’ve figured out that this only happens when one of the songs (doesn’t matter which one) is set to the dynamic beat grid but only if it wasn’t actually recorded to a click and is therefore making the Dynamic mode work to keep things in time. Songs that were recorded to a click don’t do this, even when Dynamic beat grid is enabled. The longer the transition the greater the drift, and also the more disparate the tempos the greater the drift.
Both songs change tempo together and the numbers reflect this, yet they drift miles apart as the transition goes on. When I have my DDJ-1000 plugged in I can manually nudge the turntable to keep things in time, but on most gigs I’m just using my laptop on its own so don’t have that option.
I can record a video if requested, but I think I’ve described it well enough to not need to, plus the last user had a video, and this is supposed to be a solved issue anyway.
Currently, I just spam my Sync hotkeys to constantly force the software to re-sync the two tracks, but it sounds terrible and doesn’t actually work very well. All it does is slightly lessen the drift, but certainly not cure it.
Thanks.
Edit to add: This is still the best DJ software I’ve used and I want to say good job to the team! The UI is so snappy and immediate, the Neural engine works flawlessly on my 9 yr-old computer, and the smart-mix transition stuff is just amazing. I DJ as an add-on with my function band and this software has made it so much easier and less stressful. But this one bug is unfortunately a pretty big one given the music I play.
Hi @Danny_P, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. I have reopened the original topic and moved your post over here. Thanks for linking to it and for the detailed explanation. This is very helpful. It would still be great if you could share a short video that I can pass onto the engineering team. Thanks again!
Hello, and thanks for responding so quickly.
Here’s a video of the issue: https://youtu.be/o74f87pdst8?si=iOhe4kaXNyRCJarG
I chose two songs that are very different tempos in order to best illustrate the issue. Also, in this example I have Neural Mix to mute the vocal, but the issue happens whether Neural is engaged or not.
As I stated above, the issue only happens when one of the two songs was not recorded to a click and is using dynamic beat grid. If I set the beat grid to straight then issue doesn’t occur but then everything’s out of time anyway because the song isn’t on the grid.
Any suggestions? Did this end up getting patched for 5.2? Because if so, it’s still happening!
