Cuepoint + BeatJump trigger... tightening

if this has been already been requested i apologise

The idea behind this suggestion, is so that the cuepoints can be used in conjunction with a beatjump multiples, thereby creating more cuepoints to jump to

the problem i have encountered, is the response time between the cue-point being pressed & the beat jumps being initiated

an example:
cuepoint +beatjump -2 + beatjump -0.5 or again cuepoint + beatjump -2 + beatjump -1

this gives a more precision for beatjump gymnastics if Djay pro could execute this properly

currently the delay in executing a cuepoint with a “single” beatjump leaves a gap for a noticeable audio-gap before the execution is carried out…
adding a additional beatjumps for odd beatjump number makes this currently not possible as the execution of a single cue+beatjump is playing catch-up

there may well be reasons for this inherent delay… ie tempo follow? latency? or other?

…now while this Cuepoint+beatjump gymnastics is better suited to a mapping on a 8x8 pad configuration… a tightening of the delayed cuepoint+beatjump response would be welcome

i suppose to get the gist of beatjump gymnastics just think scratching on cuepoints without scratching

Hi @7nz, Thanks for the suggestion! Could you please try to demo what you’re describing with a short video? I want to make sure I properly communicate this to the dev team. Please upload the video to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here?

In the meantime, please try turning Keylock OFF to see if this helps to reduce the latency.

i will have to try that Keylock “OFF” and see how it behaves
but i will endeavour to get a small video up

Sounds good. Thanks!

heres the demo of the cuepoints + beat jumping with varying numbers

Thanks for the video @7nz. Did turning Keylock off in djay help with the latency you were experiencing? If not, can you please share a similar video showing how this isn’t working as desired in djay? Thanks again!

hi, Slak_Jaw

the best way for the internal djay team or yourself or anyone else to better understand the matter of beatjump tightening…
is to assign 4 midi buttons each to beatjump -0.5 , -1 , -2, -4 & then follow the movements of where the beat jump lands, when dual/triple buttons are pressed

the music doesnt need to be playing, only that you see where the end position should be after a quick dualpress/triplepress…
perhaps the term beatjump tightening is not correct, in that it is more to do with midi button press implementation

thinking about things… this is not a biggie…
as i already have it implemented but within VDJfree, funnily enough doing a midi2key(secret to vdjfree) press conversion with results highlighted in the video

heres the funny thing… i was invested in Traktor, and still have the products on hand

but as i began to explore VDJfree… i found more useful elements which traktor had diffuculty in implementing, although there was a method to provide a dual button workaround… it required the release of the midi button in order 2 trigger a additional midi button… which adds delay to the beatjumping, …also relying on a release to occur, is not practical… when im mashing buttons to keep in time with the drums… after realising this weak point in Traktor, …Traktor made little sense to continue with

contrasting that above scenario with Algoriddim DJpro,
DJpro has the realtime flexible tempo implementation… and this is truely the value aspect of algoriddims DJ app alongside the RT stem separation
anyway enough ramblings LOL

btw i did try the keylock off… results are seemingly the same in that it is a hit&miss affair with triggering multiple beatjumps simultaneously… but i encourage you to carry out the test i wrote above

i imagine this beatjump gymnastics is not something easily carried out on pro controllers… so probably not of interest to many pro users…
but for the show pony’s who have the little 8x8 controllers putting on shows… this is a selling point, even if people dont realise it yet

Okay, thanks for the additional info @7nz. I’ll pass this onto the team.

okay im just providing an update on this beatjump+cue… i have just realised something with regards to this Cuepoint + beatjump
if you adjust the quantise to 1/16… this assists with quick triggerring and responds as it should

however the aspect of dual beat jumps being triggered or triple beatjump buttons being executed remains the same, in that you can only do a Cue + beat jump with a single beatjump button

Thanks for the additional info @7nz. I have passed this onto the team.
