Hello,
I have a question about the DDJ FLX2.
If I connect the controller to my smartphone via USB-C, do I get stereo or only MONO from the FLX2’s AUX?
I’m asking because I’m not sure what to do with the splitter cable and so on for pre-cueing.
Or do I only get mono with USB-C pre-cueing ?
Thanks
Update:
Okay, I tested it with an MP3, and yes, everything was mono, including the recording. So, of course, the thing is completely useless, and I’m sending it back. Thanks anyway.
Hi @Zielwasser, welcome to the Community!
- If you connect your smartphone to the FLX2 with a USB-C cable and then an Aux cable to your speakers, the output should be in Stereo.
a. In this configuration, you do not need to use a splitter cable for pre-cueing. You simply connect you headphones to the headphone socket on the FLX2 for pre-cueing.
- If you use the splitter cable setup, your output will be in mono. I recommend that you use the USB-C route and not the splitter cable route for the best sound quality possible.
I hope that helps!
Hello and thank you very much for the quick reply.
Yes, I have it exactly as described.
I turned off the split mode in the app. Now everything is in stereo.
But unfortunately, I can only hear anything when I press the master.
The two cue buttons for the decks have no effect.
Everything works fine on my PC or Mac, but unfortunately not on my smartphone.
I’ve tried three different smartphones, all without success (Samsung) A55, A56, S23
You’re welcome @Zielwasser.
- With your smartphone connected to the FLX2, and your headphones plugged into the FLX2 headphone socket, please open the djay Settings and ensure that
- The PRE-CUEING volume slide is turned up and
- The CUE/MIX slider is set all the way to CUE.
- Please make sure the MASTER switch on the FLX2 is OFF and the HEADPHONE 1 or 2 switches are ON.
- Also check that the Headphone Volume knob on the side of the FLX2 is turned up.
Please let me know if that helps
Yes, that’s exactly how I set it up. There’s no sound coming out of the headphones.
@Zielwasser
Sorry to ask, but in Settings then Audio Devices, have you routed your sound to your phone or to the controller.
My understanding is the following :
- If you want dual stereo, you must route your sound to the controller, not the iPad/iPhone. Then you must extract both stereo sounds the way @Slak_Jaw has explained.
- If you route the sounds to your iPad/Iphone, you can only pre-cue using the dual mono solution. This is a IOS limitation (as per my understanding).
So, the Output to iPad/Iphone Speaker switch must be set to “Off”.
Illustration here below :
If I move the switch to “On”, no more pre-cueing from the controller . As you see, all options have disappeared (unless I would connect a mono splitter cable on my iPad).
In other words, you cannot have the sounds coming from both of controller and your iPhone at the same time (for example Master from iPhone and Cue from controller, or the other way around : not possible).
You have to choose :
- Either both sounds (master and cue) output to the controller, and dual stereo.
- Or both sounds (master and cue) output the iPad/Iphone, and dual mono.
It is only with a computer (say, a Macbook) that you can combine both.
As this is an IOS (not MacOS) limitation.
Therefore, your controller is probably working correctly, imho.
And any other controller would have same results and limitations.
The problem is neither Djay, neither the controller but an IOS limitation.
PS : I am reading a bit late that you are on Android, not IOS. I don’t know whether Android has the same limitation. But I definitely recommend you check your “Audio Device” settings in Djay.
It is a subpage in Settings (not on Settings main page).
I hope this helps.
Does it ?

Hi, thanks for the great support. I’ve tested a few smartphones now and I’m shocked. Everything works on my old smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate 20 Lite. Everything works on a Google Pixel 7A, too. But all Samsung A series and Redmi Note have the same problem.
. Back to the setup. The settings in your photos don’t exist or aren’t displayed on Android. It seems to me that it’s simply a controller issue. Maybe a new firmware version will come out, or a list of all the supported smartphones will be released. Because the same problems occur in Rekordbox (almost the same). Then I guess I’ll just have to make do with my old Huawei from 2019 for now

The issue what you see is that there is no “Standard Android” version.
In operating system point of view, they seems to be the same, but the reality is different.
As you have noticed, vendors have options to implment audio routing freely as long as spotify works and audio can be listened through bluetooth or connected headphones.
And advanced stuff that dj’s need .. they just don’t care.
And you are alone trying to figure out what audio routing features your phone supports.

You’re welcome @Zielwasser. Thanks for the explanation @dj_romy_fi. Unfortunately, there is a very diverse range of Android hardware and they do not all function the same with djay. So I think the issue is with your Android device and not the FLX2 hardware.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
