DDJ-RZ official support

It’s already 2025, when will you add support for DDJ RZ and DDJ XP1? :frowning:

Hi @R4KURS, welcome to the Community! Thanks for your interest in supporting this hardware. I will pass this onto our dev team for consideration. However, given the age of these devices and the fact that they are no longer in production, I suspect official support is a low probability. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Thanks!

Actually the DDJ-RZ is still listed as part of the current product range on the Pioneer DJ site. It’s the controller I use too, so an official mapping would be welcome.

When I began my djay Pro journey, I was quite surprised to find that a top tier long living product like this was not supported.

Strangely the DDJ-SZ is supported though, which is effectively the same hardware but branded for Serato…

Thanks for the correction @PKtheDJ. I was told it was no longer in production. Appreciate the info.

It is surprising that the settings for the old DDJ SX, SX2, SX3, DDJ SZ, SZ 2 controllers are available, but not for the DDJ RZ

Any updates on this? Ddj sz and sz2 are working but stil no mapping for RZ? sz is way older than RZ but it has the mapping.

Hi @Gabz_Dela_Paz, welcome to the Community! Thanks for checking in. We don’t have any updates to share regarding support for this hardware.

I can confirm, I have managed to fully map the the DDJ-RZ controller with Djay Pro, everything works as designed, some really nice mappings with FX, slicer, Stems, FX routing, even colour FX to selected deck, VU meters, all mixer controls, both master outs, booth out, dual layer decks 3 & 4, but haven’t fully mapped this part yet as the below nearly made me go out and buy a FLX10, but I didn’t give up  as the DDJ-RZ along with the DDJ-SZ2 are still amazing controllers and the build quality is exceptional compared to many newer controllers.

Now this part took some work, but after finding the command and mapping the jog wheel LEDs to other functions in conjunction with the cue and play buttons;

I have managed to also map the Jog wheels, when you press and hold Cue, the music plays and the log wheel spins as it should until you let go. when you press play, the job wheels spin as they should until pause or cue is pressed and then it stops.

The only things that are not mapped are the Mic volumes, OSC sampler, but they still work on the hardware side of things, just not through DJay pro.

The best thing of all, the asio driver is set to Internal Mixer, but this also works with External Mixer, I just prefer Djay pros FX and filter.

Hi @djhsdjhs, welcome to the Community! Thanks for sharing. I’m sure the other users in this topic would also appreciate if you could share your MIDI mapping file here. Thanks!

Yes please do share as it seems Algoriddim have no intention of ever mapping this, despite the “Serato twin” unit DDJ-SZ being mapped. :man_facepalming:

DDJ-RZ - MASTER Internal 1.djayMidiMapping (63.7 KB)

Here you go, Decks 1 and 2 are configured, ill upload an up to date file once i have configured the second layer of decks, 3 and 4.

If anyone has any ideas regarding the jog wheels, that would be amazing.

Just remember in Audio driver, set it to Asio and Internal, then click on Asio setup and make sure Pioneers setup is also internal.

All works nicely, I’m happy to keep developing this with everyone’s help, to get such an amazing controller working with the worlds best DJ Software….

If anyone on this forum has a DDJ-SZ or DDJ-SZ2, please can you share your configs, as this could help with making the DDJ-RZ fully working without mapping jog wheels in an odd way.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing your mapping @djhsdjhs

Development on the midi config for the DDJ-RZ is well underway, I have now managed to make the tempo up and down arrow leds and auto beat loop leds flash constantly when 30 seconds are less are left on the track (end of track warning), if you press to activate auto loop the flashing leds stop and the loop continues, once you exit the loop, the end of track warning leds start flashing again.

I can also confirm, all outputs work as they should in internal mixer mode, dj booth, both balanced and unbalanced outputs all work via their control.

Full stems mapping, color FX via the selected deck FX 1 or 2 works a treat with the filter.

Master filter now works on all channels.

Just a few more things to Polish off and I’ll upload an updated midi config file.

If anyone with a DDJ-SZ2 or SZ, please can you share the midi mapping file as this might have the key to mapping the jog wheel leds in a different way.

Nice! Thanks for the update @djhsdjhs

DDJ-RZ - MASTER Internal 1.djayMidiMapping (65.8 KB)

Updated midi file with End of Track warning, at 30 seconds the software will flash the time red on the player, and now also flashing the tempo red LEDs and auto loop LED on the player that has 30 seconds or less, matching the software, when you press loop the flashing stops and loops the track as designed and when you exit the auto loop the flashing starts again.

Thanks for sharing @djhsdjhs

Just come across a problem, for some reason the tempo faders are operating in 7 bit resolution, i know the DDJ-RZ, DDJ-SZ and DDJ-SZ2 operate in 14 Bit resolution, in other software.

After testing this theory in Rekordbox and Virtual DJ, i can confirm 14 bit does work on these software platforms and you can make very fine speed adjustments, but DJay pro downgrades this to 7 bit resolution by default, so even at +6-6 tempo range, the speed jumps but 0.2 sometimes 0.3 bpm, which is no good for this level of controller, even the Mixon 4 has 14 bit enabled out of the box and the tempo faders are more accurate and half the size, even at +16-16 you can make 0.1% bpm changes.

Is there a way to set / adjust the pitch/tempo fader resolution from 7 bit to 14 bit, either by editing the midi XML file or within the software itsself?

Hi @djhsdjhs, there is no way to adjust this within djay.

Does anyone have a mapping file for the ddj-sz, sz2 or RX they could share, just so I can cross reference my midi file.

There must be something in the xml file ?
