Deleting a Track from the Libary

Hey guys, still new to this wonderful piece of software but i did not find something in the search database.

Easy question: How can i delete “missing files” the yellow ones from the libary and also move them to trash like in Serato DJ?

thanks alot

Not to create another topic, I was thinking lately, is it not possible to move files to trash and remove them from library at the same time?

Glad you brought this one up!
It’s such a tussle to get this done currently! To get there to delete the missing track is a multistep process:

  1. Library >Relink Missing Tracks and wait for it to pop up the drives you wonna scan, then click it, This in my case takes about a minute, sometimes more
  2. Wait for the list of tracks missing to populate - another minute f wait or more.
  3. Select ALL, then on the drop-down menu you have the optons: None, Relink or Delete. In your case if you are very sure you wonna delete those tracks, select delete and then click OK.
    It’s that long a process!

ok wow thanks alot for that detailed way how i can do it.. that works for me… is there also a keyboard shortcut to put a file to the trash straight from the libary?

Nope!
Wouldn’t that be the shortest way now?

sure  and deleting a track from the libary only is shift plus back delete on the keyboard right? but that only works when you have all the crates imported in djay pro and you dont read the serato libary right?

I can only talk from the “My Collections” side of of things only:
Djay does not delete your tracks from computer whatsoever.

In this view (Music aka All Songs view), you get the option “delete from library”

Whereas while inside a playlist you only get the option “delete from playlist”

If inside a playlist folder instead, you get none

In summary: You can only delete a track from djay library (not computer) if in library all-track view. The track will disappear from djay completely. If you only wonna delete from a playlist only, then be in playlist view.

Not a single djay software i know of does that! Having used rekordbox, serato, djuced, and djay. Perhaps that’s a functionality in traktor/vdj??

Hello everyone, I spoke with engineering and currently the method shared by Armigo above is the only way to do this. However, the dev team is looking into ways to improve this in a future update. When I have more news about that, I will share it here.

In the meantime, if you navigate to My Collection>Music you can sort by the Source column and it will group unavailable tracks together. Then you should be able to select them all and delete them. I hope that helps!

thank you very much guys!
