I envision bringing a “true DJ experience” back in the turntable days —to VR. The below can be design Patent applicable.
-
pick a record from the “air crate” (This can be a design patent, as to the best of my knowledge, neither TribeXR nor other dj software have this feature)
-
Air Crate Digging - Sift through your library using your fingers / Quest3 controller to air-scroll your library. as the records scroll past toward you.
I absolutely love the feel of reaching out and sliding a record out and putting it on the “platter”
-
Spin a record - Back in the day, many a DJ would spin a record on their finger tip ( like one does a basket ball) all part of showmanship before putting it on the platter.
-
two hand flip and slap - same in the showmanship category. Use both hands hand tracking to hold a record by the edges and be able to flip it around before slapping it down on a platter.
-
add some “thickness” to the vinyl. purely cosmetic, but completes the illusion.
-
paste the label the right way. Currently the label shows a mirror version when slid out of the sleeve.
-
platter dots move with pitch - back in the Sl1200 days, in a dark cabin, DJs could at a glance see if a record was playing at a slower, or faster pitch, depending on the direction of the 4 rows of lit dots on the platter (please make the Quest3 version lights illuminate realistically as the AVP version)
