Dismissing Load Protect dialog with ESC key stops playback

  • Device model iPad mini 6
  • Version of operating system ios 18.7.8
  • Version of djay 5.6.8
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): not relavant (disconnected)

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

  • When loading a track onto a playing deck (Protect Active Deck is on) the dialog that appears says Load and Cancel. Hitting the ESC on a connected keyboard dismisses the dialog but also STOPS the playing deck!!!

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Load a track into the left deck, hit play, fader up.

  2. Tap on another track hit the 1

  3. When “Left deck protected” dialog appears, hit the esc key.

  4. Dialog dissapears and playing track stops.

C) EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • That the dialog closes ( Esc = Cancel ) and Playing track does NOT stop.

D) ACTUAL RESULTS:

  • Dailog box closes AND Tracks STOPS playing.

Hi @Ramon_Richie, thanks for the clear write-up.

I have some follow up questions to help me narrow things down before I pass this along:

  1. When the “Left deck protected” dialog comes up, if you tap Cancel on screen instead of pressing ESC, does the playing deck keep going? That’s the big one, since it tells us whether this is tied to the ESC key specifically or to dismissing the dialog in general.
  2. Also, if you press ESC while a track is playing and no dialog is open, does anything happen to the deck?
  3. Just so I’m reading step 2 right: when you say “hit the 1,” do you mean tapping 1 in the load menu on screen, or pressing 1 on the keyboard?
  4. If you get a minute, a short screen recording would be great too.
  5. Also please let me know which keyboard you’re using and how it’s connected (Bluetooth, USB-C, or a keyboard case).
