Distorted sound when cueing tracks on DDJ REV5

When cueing the next song through headphones the song is distorted bad. (every 4th - 5th song)

  • MacBook Pro M2*:
  • Version of operating system macOS 15.5:
  • Version of djay 5.3.3033.0:
  • Hardware/controllers used DDJ REV5:

Summary of the issue:
When mixing I’ve noticed that every 4th to 5th song I’m cueing in the headphones plays completely distorted. I’ve tested this with Serato and Rekordbox as well. This is only happening with Djay Pro. I also tried both headphone jacks as well.

How to reproduce the issue:
Mix with DDJ REV5 and it’ll happen after every 4th or 5th song.

Hi @PopUp_Karaoke, welcome to the Community! Are you outputting the master audio through your MacBook speakers instead of through the REV5 master outputs?

No, I’m using the master outputs in the REV5. I also tried using an external Allen & Heath CQ-18T Audio Mixer.

Okay, thanks for confirming @PopUp_Karaoke. please follow the process below to reset the iCloud state:

  1. Quit djay.
  2. Make sure you have a backup of your djay Media Library.djayMediaLibrary file on an external drive or in the cloud.
  3. If you have previously disabled iCloud for djay Pro in System settings, please make sure it is re-enabled for djay Pro. https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014702832-How-do-I-enable-iCloud-syncing-on-iOS-and-macOS
  4. Open the app Terminal.app
  5. Run this command: defaults write com.algoriddim.djay-iphone-free CMCResetCloudKitState -bool true
  6. Launch djay

This will reset the cloudkit state and should clear up the issue. Thanks!

I tried your solution, but it didn’t work.

Hi @PopUp_Karaoke, sorry that didn’t work.

  1. Please share a screenshot of your djay Settings>Devices
  2. Also share a screenshot of your djay Settings>Sound
  3. Please confirm that you are on macOS and your version of djay (the number above is for Windows).
  4. Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers and firmware for the REV5 from Pioneer DJ? DDJ-REV5 Support & firmware download - Pioneer DJ Global
