DJay 5.6.2 does not sound that same as 5.6

I’ve noticed that the sound quality of 5.6.2 is not good compared to 5.6

I thought it was my speakers, but I compared the 2 versions

5.6 has a lot more head room and bass,

5.6.2 sounds flat and not so Bassey

I suspect it has something to do with the Autogain of 5.6.2

to me the sound quality is different,

I am staying on 5.6 till things change.

Probably worth sharing some videos of it, or provide some solid tests of the sound difference with relevant testing equipment.

sup STU, Its really hard to video, because I dont have proper microphones on my phone to pick up the difference, I noticed the difference, Like I mentioned, I suspect its the AutoGain, anyways I am happy with how solid 5.6 is.

Any update on this? I don’t know if I’m imagining it, but it seems things aren’t sounding as good.

Try turning off the Mono Output @Nubium

Sorry for the late reply, I’ll try the new update 5.6.3 and get back with the results.

Thanks @eecy_cee, try setting your Output Headroom>None

I’ve always kept my headroom at -6 because that’s the sweet spot with my speakers — anything higher and they peak early. This setup has worked perfectly on DJay Pro 5.6 and every previous version. But 5.6.2 just doesn’t sound right.

With 5.6.2, you can’t find a comfortable, balanced level. The highs are too sharp, the bass feels thin, and no matter how you adjust your mixer levels, you can’t dial it in without your speakers or sub hitting the limiter (red light staying on). The whole frequency balance feels off. Hopefully 5.6.3 improves this.

For me, 5.6 is the best version overall — the sound is perfectly balanced across highs, mids, and bass, and I can push the volume without the limiter constantly lighting up.

I haven’t changed any of my DJay Pro settings across versions. Same with Serato — I keep headroom at -6 there too. The only difference is that I never use Auto Gain in Serato because it sounds terrible, but I rely on it in DJay Pro because Tidal tracks and some of my local music vary so much in volume.

Thanks for confirming. Can you please share some recordings with the same songs on 5.6 and 5.6.2 for comparison?

the issue is the output sound going to my speakers. that wil be a different sound signal if you’re recording internally.

record the output signal from your master out, run it into a recording device of some sort.

@eecy_cee in the djay Settings>Library, have you lowered your Quality settings for Tidal or any of your other streaming services?

Hi Slak_Jaw, I always keep my Tidal and Spotify Quality at “Normal”

I do this cause my internet is not that fast when I am at events.

and songs load faster,

I’ll try 5.6.3 this weekend, I’ll also try with “Auto Gain” off and see if that makes a different.

I’ll report back

Thanks @eecy_cee, I checked with our engineering team and they didn’t make any changes to audio between 5.6 and 5.6.2. If you could please share some comparison recordings, we can investigate further.
