Djay as an OS for standalone systems

djay is already a fully-featured software with tons of amazing tools.
It would be great if we could have it as an operating system on standalone systems, or at least as an app available on the pre-installed OS for those standalone systems.
This would free up the need to carry another laptop/tablet/phone/external device for our DJ sets.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll share this with the devs for consideration.

This would be so dope. With the One Library capabilities, and the FLX2 hardware collab with Alpha Theta, it seems like something is cooking lol. Maybe it will be Reloop. Or, maybe Algoriddim is more focused on developing the software for separate devices. Only time will tell, but I’m hoping for an all in one. They can have all my money lol. In the meantime I saw the Rane System One will be Class Compliant, so ‘maybe’ plugging an iphone in the USB slot will give access to the touch screen using DJay Pro. Would be close to simply plugging in a thumb drive. Not too sure how it’s going to work though.

Probably the biggest problem in integrating Djaypro into a standalone system is the processor power, coincidentally Denon with Engine had to have the stems pre-analyzed by computer to make them use even on high-performance consoles like the Prime 4+, not to mention the smaller ones… now with the System One it is able to calculate them autonomously but you have to see the quality and if this thing creates hitches for the whole system… Using DjayPro with a good iPad (M processor) all this does not happen because it has power to spare, it is not Djaypro that needs to change but the user’s way of thinking, any controller with Djaypro on iPad can become a system similar to a standalone.

I think Reloop would likely be the one to do this, as they have been in close collaboration with Algoriddim for many years, especially with their hardware.

It would still be dope to have djay Pro as an OS for standalone systems because:

  1. We don’t have to carry another device to our DJ sets
  2. We don’t have to worry about accidents happening with our laptop/tablet/phone. It could be a drink spill or some lunatic trying to steal our device, it could happen… :upside_down_face:
