Djay Pro (Tidal Integration): Please Add Release Date Column for Tidal Tracks

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to request a specific UI improvement within Djay Pro, particularly concerning the integration with Tidal. As many of us use Djay Pro for its seamless streaming capabilities, consistency in how track information is displayed across different services would be a significant enhancement.

Currently, when Browse music from Beatport within Djay Pro, there’s a very useful option to display a “Release Date” column right next to the track title. This is incredibly helpful for DJs to quickly identify the age of a track, assess its relevance, or even understand its historical context in a set. I have a screenshot of this feature enabled for Beatport tracks, showing how clearly the release year is visible.

However, when switching to music sourced from Tidal within Djay Pro, this “Release Date” column option is unavailable. There’s no way to enable it in the view settings, and consequently, the release date for Tidal tracks simply isn’t displayed in the Browse list. I also have a screenshot illustrating this absence, highlighting the inconsistency.

This creates an asymmetry in the user experience and makes it harder to work efficiently with Tidal tracks compared to Beatport tracks. Having the release date readily visible for Tidal songs would be incredibly beneficial for:

  • Quick Filtering: Easily identify newer or older tracks.
  • Set Preparation: Help curate sets based on era or freshness.
  • Overall Context: Provide immediate relevant information without needing to click into each track’s details.

My request is to please implement the “Release Date” column display option for Tidal tracks in Djay Pro, mirroring the functionality already present for Beatport. This would bring much-needed consistency and greatly improve the workflow for DJs utilizing Tidal’s vast library.

Thank you for considering this feature request!

I would also like to see something like this for Tidal itself, so that playlists can be sorted by track age. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that the DJ software can only display data that is also supported by Tidal itself.

Thanks for your input! It’s great to hear that others are also looking for better date management.

Regarding what you mentioned, I actually can do that with Tidal playlists in Serato DJ Pro. If I have a playlist saved via Serato or even directly in the Tidal app, I have the option to select the release year and can reorder songs based on it. So, that specific functionality is available elsewhere.

My main point of interest, and the feature I’m really requesting, is for the Djay Pro application (or even directly in Tidal’s own app when integrated with Djay Pro) to display the release year when it suggests a matching song. Imagine you’re playing a track from 2025, and Djay Pro suggests a match from 2012. Right now, it takes a lot of time to check the proposed song to see its release date.

Ideally, I’d like to see:

  • The release year displayed directly next to suggested tracks.
  • Or, even better, a menu where we can filter suggestions based on specific release years or date ranges.

This would significantly streamline the workflow and help DJs make quicker, more informed decisions about track selection, especially when relying on the suggestion feature.

Hi @DjMarcoRO, I believe this needs to be enabled on TIDALs side. We already display the available metadata in djay. You can test this by adding songs from different music sources to a playlist in My Collection and then enabling the “Released” column. See below for Beatport, TIDAL, Local Music, SoundCloud and djay Music:

I recommend that you reach out to TIDAL support and request that they add Release Date to their metadata so that we can display it in djay.
