DJM-900NXS2 not working in djay Pro on macOS Sequoia 15.7.1

Hey everyone,
I ran into an issue at a gig when trying to use djay Pro with club equipment. The CDJ-3000s worked perfectly via HID mode, but the DJM-900NXS2 mixer wouldn’t appear in djay Pro’s External Mixer settings. Every time I connected it, djay Pro asked me to download the driver from Pioneer.
When I clicked the link djay Pro provided to download the driver, it took me to a Pioneer support page, but there was no actual download button there, just general support info. So I manually searched for and downloaded v4.0.3 from Pioneer’s driver page and installed it. Even after installing it manually, djay Pro kept asking me for the driver when I reconnected the mixer.

What I Tried:

  • Manually downloaded and installed DJM-900NXS2 v4.0.3 from Pioneer’s support page
  • Went through the full installation process
  • The DJM-900NXS2 AutoLauncher showed up in my Login Items
  • Restarted my MacBook multiple times
  • Unplugged and replugged the mixer several times

Even after successfully installing the driver, djay Pro still keeps asking me to download it. If macOS was actually recognizing the mixer as an audio device, djay Pro wouldn’t need to ask me for a driver. So it seems like macOS itself isn’t recognizing the mixer, not just djay Pro.

My Setup at the gig was:

  • MacBook Pro M1
  • macOS Sequoia 15.7.1
  • djay Pro (latest version)
  • DJM-900NXS2 connected via USB-B to USB-C directly into the MacBook
  • Reloop Stand Hub with CDJ-3000 × 2 connected via USB-B to USB-A into the hub

Is there a known compatibility issue between Sequoia and the DJM-900NXS2? The CDJ-3000s (through the Reloop Stand Hub) worked great, but the mixer just wouldn’t be recognized at a system level, even when connected directly to the MacBook. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

Best guess: Incomplete driver installation. Go to Privacy and Security, you will find it’s one of the blocked installations. Unlock security with your password and click “Allow”

Hi @critsune, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. If reinstalling the drivers per Armigo’s suggestion above doesn’t help, please refer to the attached setup FAQ.

https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022122239-How-do-I-connect-djay-Pro-for-Mac-to-CDJs

I suspect this could be a connection issue with the Reloop Stand Hub or your USB cables. Please try eliminating the hub and also trying different cables.

Can it still be incomplete even when it shows in “login items”?
I reinstalled it like 3 or 4 times at my gig. Still didn’t work

Since I don’t own the equipment and it was on my gig I can test it on my next gig by reinstalling again and using a extra powered usb hub.
The cables should be fine. But let’s see next time.

Thanks for answering and helping

You’re welcome @critsune. Please report back on how it goes.

The djm auto-launcher is not the djm driver. Driver is a “behind the scenes” installation
Pioneer drivers and macs don’t talk well unless you follow the steps i just told ya. Been there (owned several pioneer products) - same story.
