DVS with MAYA 44 USB and iPad 9gen

Buenas. Gracias.

Hi. I have a 9th generation iPad. I want to use DVS with a Maya 44USB card. I’ve connected it to a USB hub with external power and the Lighting Camera adapter. The card is recognized without any problems, and the input signal is perfect. The problem is that I can’t get an output signal from the card. Is there a specific setting? Or what’s the problem with the audio output? Thanks.

Hi @Bruno_LeNoir, welcome to the Community!

  1. Are you using a genuine Apple Camera Adapter or a 3rd party adapter?
  2. Is your iPad also connected to power using your original charger and cable connected to the Camera Adapter?
  3. Have you tried a different USB cable between your iPad and the sound card?
  4. Can you please share screenshots of your Audio Devices settings and your DVS settings in djay?

Hello. My camera adapter, It’s not original, but it works perfectly. I’ve used it with a Reloop Mixtour and it works perfectly. I have also used the powered USB connected to the lighting adapter, With the Mixtour, And it works well. The Maya44 USB I have tried it on a PC and it works fine too.
I have noticed that the Maya 44 USB does not seem to be getting enough power… but I don’t know why.

Thanks for the additional info @Bruno_LeNoir. I highly recommend that you do not use 3rd party Camera Adapters as these are notoriously unreliable. The Maya 44 not getting enough power is likely the issue. Are you using the original power supply that came with this device?

Yes. I’m using the device’s original power supply. I’ll try an original camera adapter and let you know if it works for me. Thanks!

Also, as suggested earlier, please try a different high quality USB cable.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Hello. I just tried the setup with the original Apple USB 3 camera adapter. The sound card works more smoothly. But the output signal is still not coming through. I think it’s the sound card itself. I’ve found that there are two models of the ESI Maya 44USB. I’ve attached a photo of the model I have. I don’t think this model is fully compatible.

Hi @Bruno_LeNoir, thanks for the update. Did you have to install audio drives to get this to work on you PC? If so, then this device is likely not USB Class Compliant. In which case, it is not compatible with iOS devices because iOS does not support driver installation. I suspect this is the issue.

This is just a hunch. See if when you play a YouTube video on your iOS device if sound is coming out of your interface.

Yes. I had to install Drivers for the PC version. I don’t think that version of Maya 44 USB is fully compatible. I’ll look into getting a Traktor Audio A6.

The master sound is only heard through the card’s headphone output and at a low volume.

So, the sound is coming out from your maya interface when you play a YouTube video on your iOS device (iPad) but from your headphones only and at a low volume. Is this correct?

Can you try adjusting the volume using the iPad’s volume buttons?

Now when you use the Djay app on your iPad do does it still not output audio from your maya interface?
